Dear Yogis,

Please note the following:

July marks the one year anniversary of the opening of GV Fit Club and we will be celebrating with some special deals for July only!

* You will be able to purchase a 10 card package for $75; giving you a 25% discount over the regular price of $10 per class. There is no expiration date for these packages and you may purchase as many as you care to.

* If you bring a new student to a class in July YOU will get your session free of charge (your friend will still pay the regular $10 drop in fee). Please consider your family, neighbors and friends. Summertime is a great time to bring someone new as there is more studio space.

And, just as importantly- As of the end of July, 2022, I will no longer be accepting any of the old Yoga Bucks that were issued with Diana Makes or Debbie Stenson’s name on them. Both Diana and Debbie have been retired from teaching yoga for two years now, and any outstanding Yoga Bucks will only be accepted by me through the end of July. Yoga Bucks with MY name on them are, of course, still valid.

Did you know there are actually EIGHT limbs of yoga? we tend to work with just three of the limbs: asanas (poses), breathing techniques and meditation during our usual sessions. Starting on Monday we will be exploring two more limbs, namely Yamas and Niyamas. These principles regard moral behaviour towards other people and to oneself. PLEASE NOTE: This session is open to everyone, regardless of yoga experience, flexibility, or strength. If you are unable to lie down on the floor, you are welcome to sit in a chair and still obtain the same wonderful benefits from this session. We have chairs at the studio, but feel free to bring your own, if you care too!




Yoga Nidra Session

Yoga Nidra is a technique used mostly for relaxation and sound sleep. It is also called Yogic or conscious sleep, which refers to the conscious or awareness of the deep sleep state, referred to as Prajna or Pragya.
Yoga Nidra is an old science coming from the Mandukya Upanishad. It is like guided meditation, belonging to an old Ta**ra Yoga technique.

Yoga Nidra is used these days for healing the body, mind and traumas. In our modern world it has many other names such as Lucid Dreaming, Trance, Trans-somatic Dialogue, Past Regression, to name a few.

Due to our busy lifestyles we often don’t find the time needed to nurture our Self at all, which can result in psychological problems including depression, PTSD, anger and exhaustion. Yoga Nidra is like a guided meditation that can bring one back to the stillness and peace needed to calm and heal the body and soul.

Benefits of Yoga Nidra
• Relaxes the mind and body allowing one to achieve inner peace
• Attaining the equilibrium between your conscious and unconscious mind to find a sense of harmony allowing life to come into balance
• Relieves insomnia. A person’s sleeping disorder gets cured as it helps to quiet the mind enabling restful sleep more easily
• People with a tendency towards depression can help change their lifestyle with the possibility of less or no medication
• Yoga Nidra is used for people with anxiety disorder to calm and relax
• Conscious healing and self-elevation
• Practicing Yoga Nidra before bed is more beneficial in attaining a deeper sleep
• Stress can be lessened of totally eradicated with the regular practice of Yoga Nidra
• Learning and embodying new material during Yoga Nidra, while in a deep rest, is beneficial as the art of ‘listening’ is amplified and then information is absorbed more into the body.
• Creativity is enhanced when the mind and body is relaxed, allowing the inner self to be supported and freed to new ideas
• The inner chambers of the mind are opened, the soul is transformed and the body is rejuvenated

Clothing should be loose and comfortable, preferably cotton to allow the body to breathe and because it feels so natural and nice next to the skin.
However, if your Yoga Nidra session is directly following a yoga class it is perfectly fine to be wearing your regular yoga pants and tops!

It is natural to fall asleep during the first few sessions of Yoga Nidra. Do not worry. Eventually you will be relaxed and more conscious after some sessions. In Yoga Nidra we are using the body and mind awareness to go beyond our usual state of consciousness. We are taking a trip through the five Koshas – the five layers of body, mind and Atman – to a place of tranquility and absolute bliss.

Please note:
As our winter visitors return we notice that space is very limited for her 8:15 am Thursday morning yoga class at Sahuarita Dance Center. With this in mind, this class will be cancelled at the end of October, 2021.

For those students that love the early class time, Callie will be instead be teaching at 8:00am on Thursday mornings at GV Fit Club in the Green Valley Village instead, starting on Thursday, November 4th.
Please feel free to join her there where your Yoga Bucks will be accepted (or drop in fee is $10)

THIS WILL ONLY AFFECT THURSDAY CLASSES. TUESDAY CLASSES AT 8:30am REMAIN THE SAME.
