We are thrilled to introduce Angela Harper as the new instructor for our Hair Design program at PLCC! Angela brings a wealth of experience and passion to our team, with 32 years of expertise in the cosmetology industry.

Since obtaining her cosmetology license in 1992, Angela has dedicated herself to the art of hair design. She has spent the past 32 years at Designer Studios, working both on commission and as an independent contractor. Now, she’s excited to share her knowledge and skills with our adult learners.

Our Hair Design program is a focused, 10-month journey into the world of hair styling, cutting, and coloring. Perfect for those who want to dive deep into the art of hair design, this program covers everything you need to succeed in the cosmetology industry. Unlike other programs, we focus exclusively on hair—no mani-pedis, facials, waxing, or makeup.

Angela's approach to hair design is rooted in both innovation and the fundamentals. She stays on top of the latest trends by attending classes and emphasizes the importance of mastering the basics, including infection control, the chemistry of color mixing, and understanding disorders, muscles, and bones. Her goal is to prepare students for the State Board exam and ensure they have the skills needed to thrive in the salon.

We're wrapping up the year with some awesome educational field trips! 🎢

Our Engineering Processes & Welding students had a blast at Cedar Point's Engineering Day, learning about the jobs behind the coasters and the fascinating design process. They came away with a new appreciation for all the behind-the-scenes work done every day to ensure the rides are in safe operating condition.

Meanwhile, our Culinary Arts students toured Cedar Point’s food service facilities, getting a big-picture view of the massive operation and what it takes to feed thousands of guests each day. 🍔🍕

Finally, our PNP juniors explored the USS Cod Submarine Memorial, diving into the plumbing and pipefitting of such a unique vessel. 🛠️🚢

A huge thank you to Chef Nate Heid, a former PLCC Culinary program graduate, for providing our Culinary students with an extraordinary fine dining experience at Alexander Pierce restaurant in Akron! Chef Heid created a custom three-course menu specifically for our students, and it was absolutely fantastic! Thank you, Chef Heid, for your generosity and for inspiring the next generation of culinary talents!

Last week, our Law & Criminal Justice students lent a helping hand at Craftsman Park for our annual clean-up community service field trip supporting the Dragon Dream Team! Thank you to all our students for making a positive impact in our community!

Excited to share this electrifying update! Our Electrical program just got a major boost with the introduction of lineman training! The demand for skilled linemen is higher than ever, with communities relying on their expertise to keep the lights on. Now, our students can explore the exciting world of being a lineman and discover if it sparks their passion.

We recently installed climbing poles both indoors and outdoors, ranging from 10 to 30 feet high! This hands-on experience will help our students get comfortable with the equipment and the heights, giving them a real taste of what it's like to work as a lineman.

A BIG shout out to our talented senior Design, Communications & Marketing students Delaney Dawson, Dylan Williams, and Bobby Nair. They prepared a dynamic marketing presentation filled to the brim with strategies, creator resources, branding insights, photography tips, and social media trends to equip our Adult Education Cosmetology & Esthetician students with the tools they need to thrive in this ever-evolving industry!

Sharing a group photo of the senior ERMA, Welding, and HVACR students involved with the production of 2 new ductless minisplit system trainers for the HVACR program. ERMA students designed the trainer racks, Welding students fabricated the racks, and HVACR students painted the racks and installed the ductless minisplit systems on them. The final product is top notch quality, while the professional collaboration efforts of all involved are contributing to training experiences for future HVACR students.Thanks to all involved!

Our Building Trades students lent a helping hand to one of our partner districts this week by replacing the roof of the concession stand at Coventry High School. 👷‍♂️🔨

A little construction project update! They started pouring concrete for the Dental Lab yesterday! 👷‍♂️

High Fives 🙌🏻 to junior welders Zack Hathaway and Sophia Baldinger who have accepted jobs with two of our job placement partners. Zack will work at C&B Machining and Sophia Baldinger will start her position at Hendrickson in May. Congratulations on getting a nice jump start on your welding careers!
