South Putnam is committed to equipping students for professional and personal success by guiding students to excellence according to the Indiana State Standards and the five C's: communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and character.
Due to a fire alarm, South Putnam M/HS evacuated the building. The students were then moved to our secondary location due to rain. After determining the building was safe for reentry, the students were released to go back into the middle school/high school. Thanks for your understanding as we navigated this situation and to Cloverdale Fire Department for their assistance.
We invite the community to South Putnam Middle/ High School this Saturday (Oct. 26th) for a trick or treat event from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. sponsored by our National Honor Society and other South Putnam student organizations. The girls basketball team is also sponsoring a free indoor haunted trail as part of the event. Bring your little ones out for an enjoyable evening!
Good morning, South Putnam MS/HS and Central Elementary families. Good news! The water boil advisory has been lifted as of this morning, Friday, October 25th. Have a wonderful weekend, and Go Eagles!
Good evening, South Putnam MS/HS and Central Elementary families:
This afternoon, there was a water main break at US 231 and 40, which supplies our main campus. We have water, but we will operate under a boil order until cleared by the water company. Our food services director and cafeteria staff have already adjusted to accommodate the boil order, but please feel free to send a bottle of water with your student tomorrow. We will also have bottled water available for staff and students. We will keep you posted if anything should change.
Have a great rest of your evening,
Dr. Smith

Good morning. This is an update from Dr. Corey Smith, Superintendent at South Putnam Community Schools. Good news! Centerpoint Gas fixed the gas leak, and the fire department verified that the school was cleared for occupancy. Students and staff are headed back into the school. Again, student safety is a priority at South Putnam, and we will continue to take precautions as needed. The campus should be back to regular functionality around 10:00 AM this morning. Thanks for your understanding as we navigated this situation and to Cloverdale Fire Department and Centerpoint Gas for their assistance. Students and staff handled it exceptionally well. Have a great rest of your day!
Good morning. We currently have a gas leak at the construction zone at South Putnam MS/HS. As a precaution, we are moving students to Central Elementary gym until situation is assessed. We will follow up as soon as we have additional details. Campus is currently closed for safety precautions.
Good evening, South Putnam families:
Putnam County Sheriff Baugh has just released an update via Facebook that reads:
"No new social media threats to area schools.
As of this evening, all social media threats and or informational posts about school threats have been investigated by area law enforcement.
We have found no substantiated threats to our schools. All investigations are current, with no new investigations started since last week.
Reports from our investigations, about the subjects who created these posts, will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for review.
We continue to work with area schools and law enforcement agencies, to provide safety to our kids and school faculty each day.
If a new post arises, please share with law enforcement and school officials, so we may determine the quickest plan of action to resolve the concern and provide the highest level of safety for our kids.
Be advised the sharing of a social media post, about an unsubstantiated threat to area schools, usually causes more confusion than it helps resolve.
Sheriff Baugh"

Here at South Putnam, we will continue to be vigilant and safety-oriented, returning to standard safety protocols and working cooperatively with law enforcement should the need arise.
Have a great evening,
Dr. Smith

Dear Parents and Guardians of Putnam County Schools,
This evening, we were informed of a potential threat to the safety of schools across Putnam County. The threat, though non-specific and not directed at any individual school, did reference all schools within the county.
It is important to note that this threat may be part of a growing trend of social media. However, we take any and all threats seriously and are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of your children. School administrators from across the county are working closely with law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter and identify the source of this threat.
All four Putnam County superintendents, along with multiple school administrators, have been in continuous contact with law enforcement agencies including the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and local police departments to ensure that every precaution is being taken. As part of these measures, you may see additional law enforcement officers present at our schools tomorrow.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as they become available. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to maintain a safe and secure environment for all students.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dustin LeMay

Their commitment to continuous improvement is inspiring, and we can't wait to see the positive impact on our schools this upcoming year. Let's cheer them on as they continue to lead our commitment to educational excellence! 👏✨
Good evening, Eagles:
This is Dr. Smith, Superintendent at South Putnam Community Schools. I have great news! Hendricks Power was able to quickly and efficiently replace the defective power transformer at the high school. We have verified that our systems are operational; therefore, we will return to normal school operations tomorrow, Friday, August 25th.
I want to thank and give a huge shout-out to the entire South Putnam family, parents, students, teachers, staff, administrators, and transportation department for proactively working together to make this unfortunate and unforeseen situation go as smoothly as possible. Everyone came together like the amazing Eagle family that we are. Thank you!
So, to reiterate, all South Putnam schools will be operating as normal tomorrow, Friday, August 25th.
Have a great evening, Eagles!
