I also forgot to post our fun from last weekend (we've been up to our real and fake eyeballs all month between wrangling Halloween and Christmas decorations!). My oldest attends -an incredibly fantastic homeschool program on Fridays at Lake Allatoona. The organization that owns the property hosted their first community Halloween event that included a series of "haunted" themed huts.
My kids had a blast helping create creepy (faux) treats and creepy (gross) mystery sensory boxes. Here's to hoping "The Brothers Grimm Butcher's Shoppe, Confectionery, and Patisserie" gets a rerun next year!
It's a bit quieter around the MKT this year. Lisa, one of our fearless leaders (and the force of magic behind the annual window display), has been battling leukemia and, more recently, very serious complications after a stem cell transplant. It really has been inspiring to see all the other folks behind the scenes take up the mantle while Lisa and Karen, who has been by her side most of the time, have been out.
All that said, even if you're not feeling so holly jolly this year, if you get a chance to swing by .mkt starting this weekend, you'll find a good dose of holiday spirit for your eyes to kick off the season.
There will be a box in the store to drop off a letter or card to send to the hospital for Lisa.
And as always, if you need, it's ok to be extra kind and gentle to both yourself and others this season. ❤️
I have not one, but TWO sideboards that landed in the shop this week. The first is this lovely vintage beauty. Isn't she a total showstopper? I thought it would also be a fun time to pull out some vintage Fire King in Peach Lustre and orange carnival glass pieces, displayed on a Kalamkari (block print) table runner from
Ready or not, fall is coming! 🍂🍁🍂
Bittersweet to put this piece of family history of up for sale, but I hope it goes to a wonderful new home that will cherish it as much as my grandfather did!
This beauty, a custom motorized Victory Vintage Pedicab, was lovingly restored and modified by my late grandfather Dack Wright is now for sale through The Market and currently for show in the front window display! I know so many people have enjoyed wonderful memories of rides that Pop gave to locals in the neighborhood or at church and community events!

Cruising onto the display room at .mkt on Tuesday...🙃
A piece of my family history and details on how it can become part of yours- more details tomorrow!
Ready or not, Christmas is coming! We've stocked the both booths here at the MKT nearly to the seams with goodies for all!
Also this year's window reveal tonight was stunning! Be sure to make a trek to .mkt this holiday season to see this year's window display!
Hey friends.
This coming Friday (Oct 15) is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. It is also designated as the Global Wave of Light. Typically at 7pm (your time zone) you are encouraged to light a candle to remember a child that has been lost to miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss. This month is also Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month.
I'm so honored to know the many families who have opened up and shared their stories, publicly and privately. You are not alone. I remember with you. I'm beyond grateful for the family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers who walked with me through our journey of loss. If you've experienced this, please feel free to reach out for resources or share your story, just to know your grief matters to someone else, too.
Listen y'all. Major shoutout to a local salon in East TN. My hairs have been surviving on sloppy mom buns and sad DIY trims for a couple years now. I mean, I already kind of look like a super fundamentalist homeschool mom (thank you cardigans, chunky sandals, and goldfish crackers) so a decent haircut is of the essence.
I FINALLY made my way to see Hayley at during my visit last week for home/work in Greeneville, TN for a Rëzo cut, and holycatsbatman! My wurls feel so good. You betcha I'll be driving the four and a half hours for my next cut! (Also, Hayley is an absolute gem! You will walk away feeling like you've just spent a while chatting with an old friend!) Greenevillians and East TN folk- go see Hayley!
(And then stop by the Farmhouse Boutique at the
for some cute fall cardigans or sweaters to compliment your sassy new hair).
I hop she doesn't mind me posting a bit of this, but has written a very moving and timely reflection about 9/11. Head over to her page to read the full piece.
Does anyone else have a lazy coworker who tries to sleep on the job? 😂😂😂
New items up in the Greeneville shop! Have a safe & happy 4th and get some rest like this little cutie!
More booth goods .mkt from yesterday- this time at 6I. I'm loving this vintage Basset French Provincial dixie style dresser topped with some of my favorite accessories (these upcycled sari headbands have been a huge hit both here and at the boutique!). Also the Maddox of Jamestoen Secretary- 😍 do you see that cherry wood finish? The bubble glass?
Booth refresh .mkt (both Booth 9A and 6I) with many new (old?) items including this vintage Hayes Parker sandstone sculpture. I'm tempted to keep this one for myself. She needs a good name...
The first of the monarchs emerged yesterday! The chrysalis becomes very transparent in the 24 or so hours before, giving us a glimpse of what's inside!
I promise I'll resume business-y Kindred posts soon 😁 don't mind me while I just enjoy morning coffee with a butterfly.
Happy Earth Day!
We had a little fun and a lot of work last week in my hometown of Greeneville, TN at our shop location there! Last year I was given the opportunity to move from my booth in the Burlap Bunny into the Farmhouse and combine forces with Dee in her boutique space. And my amazing mama graciously offered to help (I pretty much owe her a palatial waterfront retirement home now!).
After a couple bumps (literally and figuratively) in the early start of 2020, in October, we made the move! This space still focuses on sustainably designed and ethically made accessories, but also includes clothing made by some of those partners as well as brands made in the USA. We hope to provide some alternative options to the local big box chain stores and provide unique pieces that are both quality and size inclusive.
Dee also carries a wide variety of brands, and I love the way our styles and colors blend so well. I guarantee that teens to grannies alike will find something to add to their wardrobe!
PS. My first shop window displays can be viewed daily and nightly as you cruise along the main drag that is Tusculum Boulevard 😁
Vintage finds at our booth on 9A .mkt in Acworth, GA!
-16 inch illuminated Heirloom Replogle Globe
-J. Stotter vintage watermelon tumbler and pitcher set
-Miscellaneous metal stemware
-Vintage red and white striped cooler (looks very picnic chic with fair trade olive wood cutting or cheese boards and a woven Turkish wrap)
Wow. This sure has felt like 365+ days of Lent. Anyone else?
An unusual song for Easter, but faith and faithfulness are two words that have lingered around my thoughts this year. Collectively there has been so much hurt and pain, fear and doubt. And yet when the rest of the *things* of the world have withered away, the purest of love remains. Alleluia.
PS. This gorgeous print is made by - I highly recommend you check out her shop, especially if you're a classic hymn ju**ie like me, because you will likely find multiple items you love to grace your spaces.
Saturday May 6! 9th Anniversary Sale .mkt and the whole store is 20% off. Everyone has been putting in mad after store hours to reset their booths for warmer days ahead!
Our booths (6I and 9A) are stacked with old favorites and new goodies!
Don't want to shop in store? Did you know .mkt offers curbside pickup AND shipping? 🙌
Peruse these images for a second. These are all shots from my grandparents' house. Many of the materials are going on (just a guess here...) 40 or 50 years? (My Nana might give me a stern talking to about posting pictures of her dusty drapes and walls without asking, but seriously!). The colors! Design! Textures! Artistry! And they've lasted. Not just kids, but cats, dogs, grandkids AND great grandkids.
Something I want to continue to become more conscious of is buying better. (Oh, how I cave more than I want to admit to *prime* shipping). I want to buy things that will last, that are made with beauty and skill. Something unique and with character.
This has been one of my favorite parts about working not just with the makers and artists on retailing new items, but also making space for and selling vintage, antique, or repurposed goods. It's a good feeling when something like that finds a continued life and purpose in a new home.
I spy some Valentine's/Friyay!/Any-Celebratory-Day goodies that dropped at .mkt ❤ at booth 6I
Mix and match for a tasty evening in! Vinoos wine gummies (in Champagne, Rosé, and Merlot 🍾), tasting journals (wine, cocktail, coffee and donut- beer and whiskey will be restocked next week!), Pump House Co Mason jar cocktail shakers, and which are so terrible you shouldn't buy them so unfortunately I will have to eat them all by myself (ok, but seriously. They are sooooo very good and I had to taste test them three nights in a row, just to make sure 😁).
"What's next?" - one of my favorite oft quoted lines from the TV show, West Wing. Simple. Direct. Action.
We have a lot of sayings in our house. "Do the next thing", "Done is better than perfect", "Actions speak louder than words", to list a few.
If you are American and are upset or sad today, then good. You should be. Take a moment to reflect on how we, as a country, got to where we are, have been, and the opportunity of where we are headed. Then get to work.

If anything these last four years have taught me, that energy exerted into echo chamber rantings and political apathy are indeed dangerous things. It is my responsibility to do my best to work for the dignity and well being of ALL humans. If my work in this area begins and ends on a voting ballot, then I am part of the problem.
Your listening, learning, growing, changing, and doing does.not.stop.here.
So. What's next?
From our table to yours, we hope you have a wonderful Christmas with full bellies, full laughs, and full hearts.
Thank you, our Kindred family, for sharing this journey with us!
Merry Christmas, dear ones!
Please buy this before I keep it. 1960s Plia Folding Chair. .mkt in booth 6I.
So my very talented and witty friend has been making these adorable-y engraved goods. 2020 Bingo Card ornaments. Schitt's Creek Earrings. Hamilton Pencils. Etc. Go check out her page.
A maker space that rhymes with SchflEtsy was not very nice and made it difficult for her to sell on one of the biggest small business shopping weekends of the year (not to mention her famous bingo card ornaments design was copied, because trademarks are expensive, yo!)
Not only is this a fun hobby, but it helps pay the medical bills for her youngest little dapper boy, a former and
So show her some love and buy a little giftie or 10 and pass the good word along! Find her SchflEtsy or page by googling "thatsmrslasertoyou" or click her insta link! Cheers!
#2020
is today in Greeneville, TN! But to spread the love and help keep everyone safe, we're running 20% all week long.
We're also running 20% off our booths (6I and 9A) this weekend .mkt
In Acworth, GA!
Thanks to for posting this gem. (And Mary Oliver for writing it).
Layering weather is here! Stop by the shop location in Greeneville, TN for tees, tanks, dresses, cardis, leggings, stretchy jeggings and more to help ease the transition to cooler temperatures.
PS. The brass monocle necklace in the first image is from our friends and made at a fair trade workshop in Nicaragua. It's my favorite new piece of jewelry not only for its beautiful and simple design, but also practicality ( ).
Simple linen pocket napkins from - set of 4 (one of each phrase: savor, pause, give thanks, enjoy). These darlings look great year round on any place setting.
(Also did you spy those goat horn napkin rings?)
How about a little Monday giveaway?
We're in the "no longer wearing our 'nice' pajamas for an evening walk" phase of the pandemic in our house. 😁 Maybe it's the baby's sleep regression, or I'm just taking cues from my 5 year old's laissez faire fashion method, but we're keeping it real, ah, cozy around here!
I'm missing having friends over for fireside chats, hitting up some of my favorite fall festivals, and casual crunchy leaf playdates. It is, as I'm sure you know, a constant balancing act of carefully choosing interactions and exposure, risk and reward.
But I'm looking forward to a beachy getaway and spending time with family next week!
So how are you? Are you hanging in there? Had better days? Need some love?
Drop a comment. My 5 year old will randomly pick a comment or two and we'll send you a little snail mail love!
Well, hello new space!
Tennessee folks, we're transitioning from our little spot over into the - come check us out. New items rolling in all month long.
Also a super huge debt of gratitude to my best friend going on 36 years- my mom! She is the OG pinterest mom before stuff like that even existed. I'm so glad she's all hands on deck in making this space look amazing and fluffing it out each week, so if you see her around, say hello!
I see you, mama.
It's an unusual "club". One surrounded by a lot of silent grief.
I have 5 little little blessings, three of which are little saints. This time last year I sat in numbness...waiting. Another positive pregnancy test, another round of doctors appointments, pills, ultrasounds, blood draws, sleepless nights. Every cramp, every spotting of blood, and every fear there would be no heartbeat at the next appointment. How long would this one stick?
The proof I have of them fits into a box. Ultrasounds. Positive pregnancy tests. Medical records. Burial certificates. Cards and gifts from dear ones who also understand.
It's an unusual "club". One surrounded by a lot of silent grief. How can you justify sadness over someone you don't really even know?
So to you, mamas who long, and wonder, and weep, who live with an empty space in your arms and ache in your heart, I see you. I remember them, too.
