ReVIDA Recovery Centers, LLC wishes to thank Becky Haas for training more than 100 ReVIDA staff today! Today was Session 2 of the All-Staff Learning Event: Trauma Informed Care
Becky Haas, an international advocate, trainer and organizational coach specializing in trauma-informed approaches, will guided participants through essential insights on trauma’s impact on addiction in two comprehensive sessions:
December 7 was Session 1: Understanding Trauma as a Risk Factor to Addiction
* Basics of trauma
* How trauma affects brain development
* Examine ACEs study significance
December 14 was Session 2: Keys to Using a Trauma-Informed Approach and Prioritizing Staff Self-Care
* Practical keys to implementing a trauma-informed approach
* Addressing secondary trauma
* Prioritizing staff self-care
"We are long overdue for a national awareness campaign – similar to public health initiatives on how seat belts and car seats save lives, smoking causes cancer, and handwashing prevents the flu. Education is needed within every professional sector on how childhood trauma leads to adult life and health disparities including addition. Only then can we help those who feel paralyzed by their pasts to achieve the healthy lives they deserve,” said Haas.
