Happy Heavenly Birthday to Mrs. Nancy Leo Brumley!

Today, we honor the remarkable woman who would have turned 150 years old this year. Mrs. Brumley purchased our beloved hotel from Colonial Doughty in 1920, following the passing of her husband in 1916. Alongside her son Judd, she dedicated herself to running the hotel with grace and determination until her passing in 1964. Her legacy continues to live on through every guest that walks through our doors.

Happy Birthday, Mrs. Brumley! Your spirit remains a cherished part of our history. 🌸

70 years ago today, Mrs. Marie Gatonas Johnson was hired to manage the Hotel Brumley Coffee Shop.

A native of Poland, Mrs. Johnson spent 18 months in a concentration camp during WWII and was freed after the war ended. In 1948, she moved to the US and then to Greeneville in 1954. Returning to her first passion, culinary arts, she transformed the Coffee Shop into a place where customers could experience various foreign dishes. Tonight is our final night of Lyrics on the Lawn. Our Headliner for tonight's show is Gents and Liars. Get ready to Settle into the driver’s seat! It’s time for a road trip, destination unknown. Skip through the static airwaves with each turn of the radio dial until a fresh yet familiar sound rings out through the speakers. The needle has finally landed on Gents & Liars; This based out of Johnson City, Tennessee. Gents & Liars is a band of groove engineers who craft an earnest and energetic sound, with a lot of character. Their musical vocabulary is extensive and diverse, borrowing from the deep tradition of great American music. From folk and blues to outlaw country and Southern rock, these guys blend grooves and insightful songwriting that marks the spot and their studio work represents the band's hard work on the road and stage. They bridge the gap between the energy of rock and the appeal of a good hook, tipping their hats off to iconic acts such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blackberry Smoke, The Black Crowes, among others.
