Peonies have always been one of my favorite flowers. During an oil painting class at with .brown, I was captivated by an amazing fragrance wafting through the air. "What is that scent?" 🌞 It's clearly that time of year when you need a refreshing iced-tea drink. Might I suggest our Hibiscus or our Jasmine Peach with added Hibiscus? All of our teas are hand-blended in New Mexico with organic and fairly traded ingredients.

Why New Mexico? Years ago, on one of our trips out west, we met the owner of an incredible loose tea boutique. We were specifically looking for Hibiscus, and wouldn't ya know, she had it! The more we talked about her business and ours, she let us know that much of her business is in the wholesale trade. This was extremely serendipitous as we had been researching teas to carry in our shop just months before. Kismet! ✨
Now, if you want to take your refresher up a notch, how about a Hibiscus Lemonade?! 🍋
Here's a recipe:
INGREDIENTS
1 tbsp loose-leaf hibiscus tea (or 3-4 tea bags)
8 cups cold water
1/2 cup lemon juice
1-2 tbsp date syrup (to taste)
INSTRUCTIONS
Add 8 cups of cold water to a large pitcher.
Add tea bags or loose-leaf tea in a steeping ball or basket.
Allow the tea to steep for at least 30 minutes. Steep overnight for the best flavor.
Remove tea bags or loose-leaf tea.
Add lemon juice and stir.
Stir in date syrup to taste. (optional)
Serve cold for a refreshing summer drink.

It is easy to get distracted by family BBQs and outings without truly paying some sort of respect to our fallen heroes. Our black-handled steel twig utensils make a grand return, and we love these new black steel bowls. The black makes a stunning contrast to all the wood pieces we carry in the shop and truly supports that modern-rustic aesthetic we adore.

Lavender is used in many of our offerings here at the shop. We offer it in our home fragrance products and our bath and body line. You can also find lavender in our teas, jams, scones & bread mixes. It is one of my favorite ingredients and offers benefits to mind, body & spirit. If you thought we were crazy about Almond, our Lavender obsession goes even further.

Our local lavender season is coming up. We are lucky to be surrounded by two farms, one in Calverton and one right next door in East Marion. According to their calendar, blooms can be expected sometime in June. So yay for that!
