Wallace "Wally" Amos Jr., the beloved entrepreneur who transformed the humble chocolate chip cookie into a global sensation, has died at the age of 88. Born in Tallahassee, Florida, Amos initially made his mark as a talent agent before founding Famous Amos in 1975, the first premium cookie brand to gain nationwide popularity. Despite financial setbacks that led to the loss of his brand, Amos's entrepreneurial spirit never wavered. He launched other cookie ventures, including Cookie Kahuna and Aunt Della’s Cookies.

Beyond his culinary contributions, Amos was a passionate advocate for literacy, hosting the educational TV show Learn to Read, which aimed to help adults improve their reading skills. He also authored several books on positivity, resilience, and personal success, becoming a motivational figure for many.

Amos’s legacy is one of creativity, resilience, and a deep commitment to education. His influence on the cookie industry and his dedication to helping others will be fondly remembered. The world has lost a sweet soul, but his impact will be felt for generations.
