We made history yesterday!!! For the first time in Colombia we had a workshop for PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS to learn about our muscles, pain management and injury prevention applying the Trigger Point technique. This long-awaited event was a total success and I am beyond grateful to Univalle Buga for welcoming my project and helping me bring it to fruition. In today’s my clients talk about my Trigger Point Therapy and how much they love it. I wanted to clarify, though, that Acupressure and Trigger Point are two very different modalities, and contrary to common assumption, are not interchangeable. Acupressure is an ancient Chinese Traditional Medicine modality and Trigger Point is a relatively new technique developed in the last century in Europe and then brought to the USA in the early 1900’s. In Acupressure, gentle pressure is applied on “pressure points” located along the meridians of the body and linked to specific organs. Trigger Points are of myofascial origin (the muscle fibers of a certain muscle are retracted forming a knot), cause muscle pain and dysfunction from mild to severe and are not “linked” to specific organs. That’s the technique I use, not acupressure like the review mentions. 😊 🕵🏼
