Kia America has issued a “park outside” recall for 462,869 model year 2020-2024 Telluride vehicles because of a risk of fire while parked or driving.

The automaker is advising owners to park their vehicles outside and away from other vehicles and structures until the recall repair has been completed.

The front power seat motor on the affected vehicles could overheat because of a stuck power seat slide k**b, potentially resulting in a fire and increasing the risk of injury.

To fix the issue, dealers will install a bracket for the power seat switch back covers and replace the seat slide k**bs, free of charge.

Owners can expect to be notified by mail starting July 30 and can contact Kia customer service at 800-333-4542. Kia’s number for the recall is SC316.

Kia vehicle owners can also visit NHTSA.gov/recalls or call NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 and enter their license plate number or 17-digit vehicle identification number to see if their vehicle is under recall. NHTSA also encourages everyone to download its SaferCar app to stay informed on current recalls.

How to Check for Recalls

Use NHTSA’s Recalls Lookup Tool to use your license plate number or vehicle identification number to search for any open safety recalls, including the urgent Kia recall.
Download our SaferCar app and let it check automatically for you.
If your vehicle does have a safety recall, call your automaker’s local dealer to schedule the free recall repair.
Sign up at NHTSA.gov/Alerts to be notified by email if your vehicle is affected by a future recall.
If you think your vehicle may have a safety defect that isn’t part of a current recall, contact NHTSA online or by calling the agency’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time. For more information, visit NHTSA.gov/Recalls.

Here’s a PSA for some of you out there! 🚨

You've been warned. Lower it, or risk losing your driving privileges.

In case you missed it, the warning period for "squatted" vehicle violations ends today. "Squatted" vehicles are those with a front or rear fender raised four or more inches higher than the other and are illegal to operate on South Carolina roads (SC Code Section 56-5-4445).

Beginning tomorrow, May 10, 2024, law enforcement across the state will begin issuing citations for those found in violation of the law, which outlines the following penalties for violations:
1. 1st Offense - $100 fine
2. 2nd Offense - $200 fine
3. 3rd Offense - $300 fine and lose driving privileges for one year
