The very first sponsored ECUPD American Red Cross Blood Drive was a success!! Pictured is the Local Red Cross Coordinator Stephanie Griffin. Manning the table was American Red Cross Intern Amily Qreitem! Special thanks to Capt. Davis and Officer Houston for coming by and showing such awesome support!! Our new Community Affairs Officer Dan Langley gave the gift of life.
Our Red Cross Blood Drive completed with a total 57 lives that will be impacted. A total of 19 successful Donors. Thanks also to the Donors who came out that could not give blood. Your efforts are very deserving! This blood drive was a success because the Summer months are very hard due because not many people are on our campus.
Stephanie Griffin stated ….“The ECU Police support was greatly appreciated and I am so excited to continue to partner with you all.”….,
ECUPD Community Affairs Division Thanks everyone who worked hard to make our very first ECUPD Red Cross Blood Drive one to remember!!

Spring break is here. Enjoy and be safe.
Keep theft down. It takes 3 elements for a crime to occur; intent, knowledge, & opportunity. You can’t control a criminal’s intentions or their knowledge of how to commit a theft but you can control opportunities. Don’t give them a chance to take your belongings.
The East Carolina University Police Department would like to recognize and give a special Thank You to our two School Resource Officers. ECU MPO Tamesha Woolard is assigned to the South Greenville Elementary School and the ECU Lab School and ECU MPO Raymond Cabacar is assigned to the ECU Early Innovation College. Thank you for going above and beyond to help our young folks stay safe in the community!
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our retired K-9, Marko. Marko began his service at East Carolina University in July of 2013. He retired from active duty in 2018. His service was cut short due to long-term injuries that he sustained when the patrol car, that he traveled in, was involved in a serious wreck. Marko specialized in explosives detection and tracking. Marko worked countless events over his career, at ECU, to include ECU Performing Arts, Pirate Athletics, WWE Live, Harlem Globetrotters, Eric Church, Kid Rock, Parmalee, Big & Rich, Ludicrous, J.Cole, Lee Brice, the Avett Brothers and a visit from former President Bill Clinton. Before retiring, Marko was the star when we were invited to attend career days at local elementary schools. When Marko retired, he spent the remainder of his years under the care of K-9 Officer Heath. Our thoughts are with the Heath family, and we will all miss Marko.
Officer Tim Langley & Sgt. Brian Richardson conducted an alcohol and drug presentation to over 100 Kappa Delta Sorority members. They educated the sorority members on ways to help stay safe during spring break and also spoke about various other campus safety topics . Feel free to reach out anytime if you would like the Community Affairs Division to speak at your next event!!
