Data shows Greenville County’s numbers are also rising - up to 1089 last school year. We’re expected to exceed that number this school year. The GHA is engaging partners to develop the “Second Chance Housing” initiative to connect families with supportive services and an educational curriculum called “A New Lease on Life.” If you’re a property owner or know a property owner who wants to invest in housing stability for children experiencing homelessness contact us or visit www.gvlhomes4all.org.

This is great news for Greenville Transit Authority. Not only will Greenville be able to alleviate some of the traffic congestion caused by construction and expansion, but the lack of reliable transportation for the working class will be able to see some relief as well.

County Council unanimously supported the response plan in the Committee as a Whole meeting. Thank you Ennis Fant and Lynn Ballard for presenting the proclamation of appreciation to GHA. Local government is the foundation for a secure public/private partnership with GHA and others that can make homelessness for families and individuals that live among us brief and rare in Greenville County. If we succeed in this, we will have a healthier, better educated, and more prosperous population and workforce for our future.

This is the face of homelessness......
There is little doubt that South Carolina's economy has taken a downturn in recent months. Home sales are down, new home construction is down, and the SC unemployment rate hit a record 8% in October placing it fourth in the nation1. This is the highest level of unemployment since 1983 – nearly 25 years. As more people find themselves out of work and unable to pay their mortgages, the rate of homelessness is increasing. Shelters throughout the state are trying to accommodate first-time homeless families, but limited resources and community opposition are adding to an already enormous problem. Add to that the decrease in donorship that inevitably comes with a suffering economy, and South Carolina's homeless are in for a very difficult winter. Join us in aiding homeless mothers and children when they need it the most . Donate and 100% of your money will help build a homeless shelter right here in your community !
