Super cute little chrome diopside from Tanzania 🇹🇿 This piece was found in the same region they mine Tanzanites from, and those yellow crystals on the outside are most likely colorless Tanzanites, a type of Zoisite. Have you ever seen chatoyance like this on a smithsonite before??? This is probably one of my favorite pieces in the whole store right now. I love smithsonite and have never seen any quite like this before. Great color! Some of the chatoyant sections on the back have a subtle rainbow sheen to them (I may post a mother video soon. XL spinel crystal from Vietnam 🇻🇳 Fun fact: a lot of spinels were mistaken for rubies back in the day and were referred to as “balas rubies”. Some of the “rubies” in old regal wear (like crowns and scepters) are actually spinels! This particular piece is a large, well formed spinel crystal and has nice sections of really deep color or translucency throughout the crystal. We still have some of these amazing Shangaan amethysts that will be going on this months’s live sale! These guys are mineralogically and metaphysically awesome! They are almost all scepters with smokey and hematite inclusions. Some even have enhydro a in them 💧 They come from a remote village in Africa where the villagers hand mine each piece, so there is virtually no damage on any of them. The villagers brought them to the market to share their healing energies with the world and take a lot of pride in the crystals that they produce. The crystals are said to have a particularly strong yin energy that is particularly beneficial for women who are trying to start businesses.
