✨The perfect way to spend a rainy day✨

I had my first experience with cold plunge over the weekend. Let me tell you, I was not interested in trying it AT ALL. From the Chinese medicine viewpoint, it’s not good to shock your body with extreme temperatures and I for one do not ever like being cold, so it did not seem like something that I would enjoy. However, there is also so much proof of the benefits of cold plunging. And so….i got nice a toasty warm in the sauna and then, with the help and gentle coaching of some stellar friends, I took the plunge. My breath instantly left my body and everything in me screamed to GET OUT but I stayed. Came back to breath, allowed myself to relax my shoulders, sank into it a little deeper. I lasted a little over two minutes the first time and as soon as I got out burst into deep tears. But it FELT SO GOOD! Something was released inside of me that had been clenching tight for a very long time, and as soon as the crying stopped, I felt exhilarated, flooded with joy, overwhelmed by peace. It was like nothing I had ever experienced before and didn’t expect to experience then. Back into the sauna we all went and then once again, I was ready for the cold. The second time I made it over three minutes relaxing fully against the back of the tank and after that one could not contain my energy. As a low energy person, this was unbelievable to me!
This is a story that has nothing to do with skincare, but everything to do with the fact that we are changeable, movable feasts, allowed to change our minds, and embrace newness and fear at any point that we decide we are ready and willing. I had expectations of one result, and I got something that has truly changed my way of seeing everything. I’m here to remind anyone who ever doubts themselves, you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think and loved more than you know.

Happy New Year’s Eve! I hope you can usher in the new year with some self care. Maybe spend a little time on lymphatic drainage with a gua sha tool or apply a moisturizing face mask. Please remember as you get bombarded with all the exercise and diet ads that we are still in Winter and Winter isn’t the time to push yourself. It’s the season to nurture yourself, hibernate, snuggle, soothe with warming foods. All this so you can be ready to blossom in the Spring! Stay cozy, friends!💙

This a love note to all of my lovely clients who are NOT getting their pre-Christmas Bright Skincare needs met. I have never in my esthetics career not worked the week before Christmas but this year sickness has taken me DOWN. Thank you so much to all of you who are being patient with me with kind words and know that I can’t wait to get back to you again…just as soon as I can get out of bed!
