CANTALLOPS, Spain—At the edge of the Pyrenees Mountains in the Catalonia region of Spain, friends outside a rural village meet at a dirt road intersection for a morning chat. The nearby tiny village of Cantallops (population: 313) originated around a castle constructed in the 13th century. The fellows in the photo were enjoying a brunch consisting of canned peaches and vodka.

First known as Baldwin Presbyterian Church, members met in 1847 in Old Union Church near John Gallagher Springs. In 1903 the membership was moved to this site and the name was changed to Stockton Presbyterian Church. In 1956 the membership moved into its new church on the same site. The bell and the steeple was housed in all three buildings. May it continue to toll and call all future generations into thy service.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham city residents currently sleeping under bridges, in parks and other nighttime hideouts may get a roof over their head – temporarily at least. Simple, small prefab studios grouped together in a village of sorts could offer a break – not only from the elements, but from the stress of keeping a constant eye on their surroundings – while also getting a good night's rest. Residents will have access to meals, showers, a case manager, job training and substance abuse counseling if needed.

Birmingham approves plan to offer tiny shelters to the homeless It involves small, lockable shelters where the homeless can sleep safely, the city says.
