Our workout class this morning had a new shadow instructor.

She got to lead the second half of the class and let me tell you, she SHOWED UP

She had energy, was moving around the room calling us out and encouraging us individually in our struggle, and for the record, she absolutely did not need the mic that was working quite well.

She was bold

At one point, mid-burpee, heart rate in the 170s, I paused (because you know, air is nice) I looked up in my squat and we made eye contact. Like a magnet, she immediately came towards me saying ‘I see you! I see you! ….Go!”

Her boldness made me better. She gave me accountability and a challenge to meet. The workout was the same the first thirty minutes and the second. And yet even though I was more fatigued the second half, I pushed harder and discovered just how far I could push myself - mentally if nothing else.

Just made me think about the people we surround ourselves with

Things may be fine, challenging in a good way even, but when we press into community that shows up, sees us in our struggle, and refuses to let us quit or even back down, we see for ourselves the potential within us and a new level of motivation.

I’ve gone through the rest of today carrying that encouraging and motivating energy and it kind of changes everything! So, who can you show up for today? Who can you move towards, look into their eyes and say, “I see you. Go!”?

Aren’t family photos like the most stressful thing ever??

Mmmm maybe not!

We get you booked and chat about color schemes, outfit vibes, and what you hope to see when you look back at these pics. We pick a dreamy location and meet there on your special day.

Reality check- You got the whole fam there, and it was a lot of work to do so. While it may seem like the stress continues until you get back in the car at the end- that is not the case for my sessions. When you arrive, that’s when you get to exhale. To let loose, to allow your children to be silly, goofy, whatever they want to be, and to delight in them without correcting or changing them. I’m a former elem. teacher and have lots of tricks in the bag for redirecting kiddos without deflating them. I’ll give you little games to play, song to sing together, and lots of interactive prompts to keep you moving and giving your most authentic smiles. And then, before you know it, it’s over!

It might sound too good to be true, but this is truly how our sessions go and they are such a sweet chance to slow down and just be focused on each other.

Today was the first day of school for a lot of you and I can’t believe summer is on her way out the door! Heat and humidity, on the other hand, like to wear out their welcome around here. But school is in session which means….. FALL FAMILY SESSIONS are coming soon!!! GVL & Denver. Stay tuned!!

Comfort is a funny thing.

When something feels comfortable we’ll do anything to stay in that feeling, whether we realize it or not. And we become really good at making excuses to maneuver a way to keep things as they are.

Thoughts she was probably thinking in the first picture:
🙅🏼‍♀️I don’t want to do it.
🙅🏼‍♀️It’s too hard.
🙅🏼‍♀️It’s too scary.
🙅🏼‍♀️I can’t.
Do any of these feel familiar to you? These thoughts don’t discriminate age.

But then there’s this moment of decision.

And that’s all it takes, really.

She decided to think something different.
🟢 I can do this
🟢 I love to jump into the water
🟢 I am brave
🟢 I am safe
🟢 this is fun!
New, but all true

And just like that she’s air borne, and laughing. And the splash of her landing sends ripples and rainbow droplets in every direction, smiles spreading under watchful eyes. One heart’s willingness affects the rest.

It’s the green light for wherever you want to go in life.

All of a sudden what used to be UNcomfortable is now the NEWcomfortable. And these are the stepping stones of growth. Ownership of the way our thoughts play into the way we experience this life.

What could have been a sad day at the edge of the pool turns into a gathering of giggles and shared experience, connection.

And a decision really is all it takes.

I love how even the simplest of motherhood moments guide me to a place of prayerful pondering and reflection. What part of my life is comfortable? Where am I making excuses to stay in that comfort. What thoughts keep my feet grounded, where God desires them to be airborne? Do I even have awareness of my thoughts?

I must tell my brain what to think, or it will decide for me without my consent. And when I choose my thoughts on purpose, life will change in new, beautiful, uncomfortable ways 🤍 and that’s a good thing!

Fluffy green grass, warm glowy light, vibrant sunsets, Norah Jones, a glass of chilled white, sticky air, crickets, fireflies, and them. Drinking in some of my favorite things that summer brings. And so deeply thankful for it all.

It’s a short-lived season, but an ultra-sweet and bonding time! Their wonderful news is out now, so I am thrilled to share!

Anyone else loving these mild South Carolina temperatures?! Feels like spring is really lingering and I’m loving it! Had a whole lot of fun with these cuties!

Pure JOY!! These girls will make you feel deeply loved and absolutely treasured like it’s their job! you lead the way beautifully. I’m so thankful to have you your sweeties in our lives- we’re all better, and certainly smilier, because of you! 🤍

From sorority sisters way back when to this, here and now. Life is beautiful! you were made for such a time as this 🤍 What a beautiful mom you are, inside and out! So hard-working and endlessly selfless. Your boys are so pure and I know where they get it from 🥹
