Donate Life Rose Float Wins the Sweepstakes Award
What a spectacular day for the Donate Life community! An exciting time to bring awareness and education about organ donation and to sign up as a registered donor. Donate Life SC, and the transplant community of South Carolina came together in Pasadena to inspire the nation to register to give the gift of life. This video clip of the ABC coverage of the 2023 Rose Parade highlights the Donate Life Rose Float as it winds its way down the parade route as the winner of the Pasadena Rose Parade Sweepstakes Award. The video highlights the We are Sharing Hope SC honorees Rylan and Landon Ellenberg, presented together in a first-of-its-kind double floragraph. Kevin Shwedo, Director of the SCDMV, gave coins of honor to the Ellenberg family in Pasadena and shared, “These coins are excellence awards. They are never presented as participation trophies. This family lost two of their sons who agreed to participate in the Donate Life program. Not only did those young men agree to make a difference on behalf of others, their family members also supported those decisions and made a difference in the lives of many more. Collectively, this did more for their community to save lives, and improve the quality of life to an extent, most people will never understand or appreciate.” The Donate Life Rose Float brings Donate Life communities together to bring awareness to the critical need for organ, eye and tissue donation for transplantation and to give hope to both donor families and grateful recipients. In addition, South Carolina is honored to have five honoree representatives on the float this year, including the living donation story of Thomas Dougall and Jo Byrd. “The story of Jo and Thomas represents the kindness that you or your neighbor can provide by becoming a donor, states Tracy Moore, Executive Director of Donate Life South Carolina. We believe that selflessness is what South Carolina is all about. South Carolina joins in celebrating the opportunity to rise ab

Wishing you all a happy and healthy Christmas!

A Message on Donation from Our SCDMV
South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles is grateful for the opportunity to daily impact our communities, including friends, families, & neighbors, by registering organ, eye and tissue donors. We understand the vital role that DMV’s across the country plays in reducing the number of people on the transplant list. Currently, 98% of donors are registered here in SC by one of our employees because of our passion for positively impacting our communities. You can show your support at your local DMV office by ringing one of the Donate Life bells & registering to be a donor.
