M.A.D.E. for Heroes Community Service Project
The Mauldin Football Program, along with the Maverick touchdown club, is conducting a service project to benefit veterans in the Greenville area. The VA voluntary services provides assistance for veterans experiencing homelessness and at risk veterans throughout our area.
When veterans enter this program, many times, they do not have simple necessities such as shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, razors, and the like. For the next two weeks, through September 6, we will collect personal hygiene items for both men and women to be donated to VA voluntary services.
How can you help? Boxes will be placed at the entrance to the school designated with your grade. We’re asking you and your parents to donate new, unopened personal hygiene items listed above and place them in the box. Football players and coaches will come by periodically to collect these donations.
As a little incentive, the class at Mauldin High School with the most donations will join us on the field on Friday night September 6 when we donate these items to the Veterans Administration Volunteer Services representative.

Teachers are always learning too! And often from each other! Mrs. Harmon and her class invited colleagues to see how a mental map activity is conducted in an AP Computer Science class. Mauldin teachers will have many opportunities to peer observe colleagues this year which will allow them to see how they might implement strategies and activities into their content area. We are blessed to have many master teachers to learn from!
Students are studying the theme of immigration throughout human history. To cap off the unit, each student is interviewing a teacher or other person in their life who has moved to the United States from another country. This allows students to gain insight into the various personal experiences and connect it back to the themes studied in class.
