As most of you know, I’m suuuuuper picky about my pictures! Your head positioning, the way the sun is shining into my room, the angle of the camera, and even the color of your shirt matters when it comes time for me to take your after shot📸

If i ever take pictures of your hair and don’t post them, or i don’t ask you to take pictures, its not because i don’t love your hair, it’s because either the lighting is off or I’m running behind with clients 😅 9/10 times I’ll hold you up in my window to take your picture, even if we’ve done the same thing for the past 5 years!

I’m so thankful i was given this advice during my senior year of highschool…

Growing up, my parents always pushed the importance of college and having/getting a degree because they didn’t have the opportunity to do so for themselves. I took all of the honors and college classes i could, i was in every club, and i even put my blackbelt on hold to cheer to “make my college entry resume look good.” I always battled with what i wanted to be when i “grew up”; for the longest i wanted to move out to Kansas and chase tornadoes, that eventually turned into wanting to be a meteorologist, which somehow turned into being a teacher. However, during the fall and winter of my senior year as i was filling out college apps and scholarship apps, none of it felt right. None of it sparked joy or excitement, it actually cause a lot of anxiety for me during the time. I knew that the path i was pushing for was NOT the path i was destined to be on. January of 2016, i pulled back all of my apps from ever school i applied to, and put everything on hold. There was absolutely no way i was going to go hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt doing something that didn’t bring my joy. My future felt uncertain and the anxiety i was facing was crippling. After much time in prayer, reading my Bible, and talking to my family and friends, i decided to apply to cosmetology school. Now, being a hairstylist was NEVER EVER part of my game plan, EVER. Well, 5 years later, here i stand: 23 years old OWNING my own business, living my best life, making more money than i would have as a teacher, and almost 100% debt free, and most importantly HAPPY. I don’t know what the next 5 years will hold for me, but as long as I’m this happy, and still doing what i love, then i don’t mind.

Have you ever left the salon and got home and your hair not look the same in your bathroom as it did in the salon? Or even in your car? Or when you took that picture with your family in that sunny ball field? This is why. Direct lighting vs. indirect lighting will change the color of your hair. iPhone vs Android camera can *sometimes* altar the shades in the hair. Warm lighting vs that vibrant LED cool white lighting will most definitely effect the tones that you see.💡

What products should i be using?

I always suggest using a good, hydrating shampoo and conditioner as your daily, i recommend the Kure line from Amika!

Once a week, I recommend using a purple shampoo! My two favs are Amika Bust Your Brass and Olaplex Purple Shampoo!

Once a month you should being doing some type of at home treatment; whether it’s olaplex or an amika deep conditioning mask!
-
Daily, you should be using a good heat protectant (i love IGK Good Behavior) and an oil on your ends (Olaplex Oil and DesignMe Gloss Drops are amazing!)

Products and at home care are so important when it comes to blondes, and really any color! At home care and the proper products will make getting your hair goals more attainable and quicker to happening!

Do not use sun in 😘.
I know it might seem so tempting to spray it in at the beach, lake, or while watching your kiddo play TBall, but all it does is give you orange roots, and a hot mess that can’t be lightened! The chemicals in lightener and the chemicals in sun in don’t play well together, and your hair could melt right off!
