Unfortunately, we received a report of a serious accident because a bicycle ran into them. The rider was traveling at a fast speed in the center of the park and could not stop in time. Runway Park is an amazing place to play and watch planes. It is not a large enough park for big bicycles. The posted rules do say play at your own risk. We ask for your help to ensure the safety of children at play in our park. Please report any incidents or rule violations to the airport immediately by using the phone number posted on parks signage. We thank you for your help.

Runway Park is a wonderful because it is VERY CLOSE to an active runway to watch planes take off and land. This causes us to have to be more strict than other outdoor facilities.

No dogs are allowed! There is an increase of dogs in the park. There are also no balloons, no kites, and no drones allowed in or around the park and airport.

Please pay attention to the posted rules. If you see someone violating these rules, please notify the airport staff by calling the number on the sign: 864-242-4777. Thank you very much. We love seeing all the wonderful posts of you enjoying Runway Park!!

Here is some great news coverage of the Military History Center of the Carolinas - MHCC Museum. This story highlights a unique bond over a love of history. Marcello Biava gave a presentation of how the Allied Forces freed Northern Italy during WWII. The title of this spot is one of the MHCC's tenants- honoring veterans.

Great things are in store for 2024, and we would like to do those things with you. Please consider us for your end of year donations.

Community outreach and education is important to the Greenville Downtown Airport, and as a result, we’ve created a non-profit to further amplify our efforts to create opportunities for partnership. Our long-term goals are not only to add play equipment, but we’d like to build an aviation education and outreach center in our Community Corridor. We want to inspire our next generation to fall in love with aviation.

Remember, the sky is not the limit but the opportunity.

A long time volunteer and friend of the airport and community passed away recently. There will be a gun salute done with blanks at the museum on Saturday. We just want to make sure that everyone knows and not to be alarmed.
The Military History Center of the Carolinas Museum will conduct memorial ceremony to honor Peter's service to the nation and the museum on November 4 at 11:00am.

We are always looking to for ways to improve the park and safety is always our main concern.

* The upper portion of the amphitheater area is closed due to the blocks being pulled up and destroyed. We are working on paving this area.

* The green space is blocked off while we grade the area to make it even and flat.

Please be patient and keep your children out of these areas. Thank you so much!

Our Story

The Greenville Downtown Airport's park, which is FREE to use and open to the public during daylight hours, has an educational amphitheater, exercise "Perimeter Taxiway" and walking "Runways", as well as aviation themed playground equipment, a swing set, a Bi-plane "Climber", a picnic hangar, a Cessna 310 static display, 17 educational signs, benches, restrooms, water fountains and a 15-foot cross section of a Boeing 737 fuselage handicapped accessible park entrance.

We are now applying for grants, planning more fundraisers and seeking financial help to level and pave the park's parking lot.
