Read below some things said about PF Flyers Team....

Recently, as my wife and I were returning to PA from Florida with our SR22T I ended up having to make an unexpected but what turned out to be a rather pleasant stop at KGMU (Greenville, SC) and spending some time with the wonderful people at PF Flyers (Who We Are – PF Flyers Avionics).

The catalyst to this stop was that as I reached my cruise altitude of 11,000 I could not lean back to the Cyan Marker of the Target Fuel Flow without getting excessive TIT’s. While I may only have 70+ hours in my new to me 2018 SR22T, armed with my Embark training and recent CPPP attendance I took the prudent/obvious choice of asking for an amended clearance to get on the ground and have this checked out.

Once on the ground I contacted Savvy Breakdown and they thankfully pointed us to the Cirrus Center on the field, “PF Flyers.” “PF” stands for Pruden Family as the family team of John, Debbie, and their son Ian own the operation.

While it may have been a Friday afternoon, the PF Flyer’s team quickly arrived at the FBO and guided me over to their large facility. In spite of their workload our aircraft became the priority of Chester, PF Flyers’ most experienced Cirrus technician, supported by Russell and JoAnna. While these A&Ps were giving our aircraft a detailed once over and a fuel flow analysis, I was being given a thorough tour of their extensive operations by John Pruden. At the same time, Debbie made my wife feel very at home and motivated about returning to Greenville under more deliberate circumstances.

While I was thoroughly impressed with everything I saw and experienced with the PF Flyer’s operation there are a few things that spoke volumes of the culture driving this team of professionals. These observations included:

How comfortable the PF Flyers’ technicians were with having a conference call with my home based Cirrus Center (KLOM FlyAdvanced) to discuss their findings.
John Pruden being ready to go on my test flight to validate his confidence in his team’s findings and the airworthiness of my aircraft.
John and his son Ian are committed enough in their people that they finance the pursuit of their private pilot’s certificates using the PF Flyers’ vintage and pristine 1958 Cessna 172.
Multiple team members stayed far longer than their planned end of the work week, and each of them remained committed to doing what was needed to get me back in the air.
PF Flyers was ready to hanger my aircraft at no cost if I had needed to stay the weekend.
With the aircraft checked out and fuel flow’s confirmed to be within spec’s, I decided to continue my flight. Once I made this decision, I asked John and Debbie what I owe for all of their work. The two of them declined any payment for the two hours of thorough diagnostics work and the priceless peace of mind.
We departed KGMU shortly thereafter, and had a safe flight home. Yet we do look forward to returning and providing a better thank you to this great group of people.

I appreciate your post. I stopped there a couple years ago with a minor issue. Unscheduled, but accommodated quickly and they fixed the problem. Genuine warm hospitality in addition to quality service. KGMU is a nice airport and my wife and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon and evening in downtown Greenville.

My home field is GMU and the Prudens give every Cirrus owner the service you experienced. They’re a tremendous asset to Cirrus and a credit to general aviation. They’re the main reason why I’ll likely always fly a Cirrus. Justin

Wonderful family and so helpful to me when in distress in either a customer plane or mine.

They have also committed to purchase an ALSIM SR22 model like which is installed in Knoxville and it will be an asset to the local CTC and training partners in the region.

Thanks for your post on the great folks at PF Flyers at KGMU. I read the post the night before going down to south FL from CT and made it my gas stop. Ditto on the way back today. After filling up and getting my clearance back to KOXC, my 2003 22 failed the mag check- switched it over to the right mags and nothing was there. There’s about 600 hours on the engine and the mags were both IRAN’d 200 hours ago at the annual in June. Luckily the dedicated crew at PF Flyers was working on a Saturday and within 15 minutes had the cowling off and were checking things out. John Pruden had the right mag out in short order and showed me some oil that had been leaking in and the burnt electrical connections inside.
Luckily John had the correct replacement in stock and after some discussion he started to install the replacement right mag. A short time later, John came in and informed that someone had crossed the p-leads and it was actually the left mag that was inop! Of course John had a replacement for the left mag on hand also. So in summary, one mag was totally shot and the other bad enough that John wouldn’t sing off on it.
Subsequently, John kindly gave me a ride to the hotel with a promise to pick me up on the way in tomorrow at 7 am(Sunday!) so he could finish it up and go for a test ride with me.
Folks like John really deserve special recognition within the Cirrus community. I applaud John and his team and would encourage other COPA members to get to know him.

I’ll +1 this as well. A couple years ago I got stuck with a bad mag on a Sunday afternoon at GSP and they came to the rescue. Once confirmed it was a bad mag, they had gotten a hold of one had it installed first thing the next day. And they still send me Christmas cards!

IN THE NEWS:
When the co-owner of PF Flyers Avionics calls to ask for Drummond Island travel tips for one of their Cirrus clients you do all you can to help ensure the pilot and his family enjoy their getaway. You pay extra close attention to details if that PFFLY.com owner also happens to be your older sister, eh?!
✈️
Thought I’d share the review James Blum, COPA (Cirrus Owners & Pilots Association) member had to say about his recent Drummond experience in a email to my sister and her husband John Pruden:
✈️
“I want thank John for his great recommendations. We flew into Drummond Island Airport and the Bailey father/son team gave us exceptional service. They provided us a hangar and a car perfect for the island. We stayed at the Drummond Island resort, it’s certainly off the beaten track, but has everything you need to have a nice time in a remote location. It has an interesting history as the facility was originally a retreat for Domino’s Pizza execs and still has the imprint of Tom Monaghan.
✈️
Lots of opportunities for hiking, kayaking on Lake Huron, and if you’re into ATVs, it’s the ideal place to do some touring. The Gourmet Galley has a great selection of snacks and breakfast items. Esther’s restaurant was clearly the best place on the island to eat. It’s very solid Mexican food and the fried ice cream dessert was excellent.
✈️
I would recommend stopping in for a couple of days if you are Midwest based and want to get away from everything without a monumental flight. The best news in my wife’s opinion was that my cell was basically not functional except when I was at the lodge with WiFi.” — James A Blum
✈️
Hats off to my fellow Islanders and business owners for doing what you do best — making folks feel welcome!
