I'm Julie the brains (and brawn) behind JAWS LLC. On the brink of my forties and loving every minute! Outside being an awesome and , I am also a wife and mom. 4 kids and 4 pups keep our house interesting but fun in all the best ways. Sharks are my very favorite. (I bet you had no idea.) I have very good tattoo artists and will happily recommend. If you mention karaoke, I'm there. Better yet, invite me to your theme party. I love to get into costume! Basically I am a very Leo, Leo. In the studio I get to be myself and let others be themselves. I get to meet all kinds of new people and hang out with my friends. My Journey to JAWS.
I went back to school at the age of 30 and discovered my passion. I had been doing freelance makeup on the side for several years, and was often asked why I had not made it a full time gig. The truth was that I was scared. Working for yourself is risky, and I never felt I was in a good enough spot to give it a go. After I turned 30 I decided that it was now or never, and enrolled in Esthetics at Academy of Hair Technology.
I fell in love with the instant gratification of waxing right away. After graduating I left my retail job and started work at a spa. I loved the work I was doing, but facials and the quiet tranquility that goes along with them quickly got boring. I realized that I needed something more fast paced, and I wanted to be able to talk with and get to know my clients. I was approached by a friend from Esthetics school and was given the opportunity to go to work for Ultraskin in Cherrydale.
I fell in love with the atmosphere and all of the clients right away. I stayed with the company for several years, and after becoming a Regional Trainer and among the top tier of waxers in the company, I started to feel like I was hitting the ceiling. I was outgrowing my beloved job. I went into Esthetics knowing that I eventually wanted to work for myself, and it was still on my mind, when my husband and I went to check out a barber friend’s new location. I knew as soon as I looked through the window of Wild Hare Parlour that this was where I wanted to be. I sat down with my husband and we decided to make the leap, and that was the beginning of Julie’s Aesthetics & Waxing Studio JAWS LLC.
Many people wonder about the name. It is rather lengthy, which is not something that I was really looking for, but the acronym is what sealed the deal for me. I am a bit obsessed with sharks, and have been for most of my life, so when my husband came to the table with JAWS it was a done deal.
