Meet Whitley—a familiar face you’ve definitely seen around our place! An amazing bartender and server, she hails from North Myrtle Beach, but has called the Upstate home for years now.

On any given day, you’ll find her taking care of the lunch crowd and keeping the bar flowing. She’s been at The HOUSE for about 3 years now and we’re so happy to have her.

When she’s not working, you’ll find her hanging out with the fam, doing anything and everything in the great outdoors. She’s also a major live music lover and teaches yoga at Southern Om Studio, too.

Meet Jim (aka Yank), the man who shucked our first oyster back in 1981!

This New York native is the heart of BLOCKHOUSE, doing it all from food prep and cooking to greeting customers. Come try his favorites, Joe’s Spud and of course, oysters on the half shell.

When he’s not on duty, you’ll find Yank fishing, volunteering to help the homeless, and loving lobster.

Come say hi to the man, the myth, the legend next time you’re at our place.

It’s all about Ally! Born and raised in good old GVL, our Head Server does it all from slinging orders to catching up with our regulars. She’s been on the team for almost EIGHT YEARS and loves the grilled oysters, paired with an Old Fashioned, of course. When she’s not here at BLOCKHOUSE, she enjoys singing and spending time with her wife and dogs—especially on the lake!

We live for that Low Country style. 🌊 Our Seafood Cakes take the - well, cake! Shrimp, crab, and white flaky fish served with remoulade sauce. Yum!

Meet Britt, the best night bartender in town. Coming to us from Columbia, she slings craft cocktails and beers with a smile for the happy hour and dinner crowds, followed by the night owls ’til 2 am.

We’re so grateful that she’s been a pivotal part of the HOUSE team for almost a decade! 😱 Fun fact, she’s an equestrian enthusiast, so working at a bar named after a Steeplechase is pretty iconic.
