Today, following Julie Valentine's Mother's sentencing, we are incredibly grateful for the dedicated team of law enforcement investigators, Solicitors, and community partners who dedicated their time, talent, and resources to solving and prosecuting Julie Valentine’s case. Although true justice is never served when young lives are lost, in the grand scheme of things we know that ultimately Julie Valentine gets victory over injustice every single day that someone walks through our doors. She and her brother lost their lives, but hundreds of lives have been saved because of her. We hear it every day. Her life mattered.

Shauna Galloway-Williams, CEO
As Sexual Assault Awareness and Child Abuse Prevention Month comes to a close, we encourage you to support survivors every day of the year. We all know someone who has been impacted by child abuse and/ or sexual assault. You may not know it yet. It may be your partner, your child, your parent, family member, friend, or neighbor. You may be a survivor who has never shared your own story with others. Julie Valentine Center CEO, Shauna Galloway shares why it is important to support Julie Valentine Center and how your support impacts everyone in our community. Continue to educate yourself about the facts and myths of sexual assault and child abuse. Believe and advocate for survivors. If you are a survivor, know that you are not alone. Julie Valentine Center is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

1 in 20 boys under the age of 18 experience sexual abuse or assault. In fact, 30 percent of the clients served at JVC are male. Jeff Dishner, former JVC Board Member, shares his story of surviving, thriving, and giving back to the community. Thank you Jeff for sharing your story with us and being an amazing advocate for our work.

In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month, we remember Julie Valentine and her brother, both found abandoned and deceased in separate locations in our community, within 10 months of one another 33 years ago. Our community has embraced Julie Valentine and her brother as their own and has made the tragedy of their short lives a story of love, support, and hope that all children in our community have the chance to live safe, joyful lives. In 2011, when the Greenville Rape Crisis and Child Abuse Center chose to rename and rebrand, Julie Valentine breathed new life into the Center and the work being done in the community. In 2019, the cold case was solved thanks to a dedicated team of investigators, including Terry Christie, who continued to seek the truth and a Center that kept Julie Valentine’s name alive. Today, and everyday, we honor the legacy of Julie Valentine, her brother, and the dedicated team who refused to rest until their case was solved.

Carrie Nettles, JVC Chaplain
In 2016, Julie Valentine Center became the 1st Center in the Country to hire a full-time Chaplain to address the spiritual needs of survivors. Today, JVC's innovative approach to service is Nationally recognized and has been replicated by Centers across the US. Hear about this incredible program from the Nation's first Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Recovery Center Chaplain, Carrie Nettles.

Kim Ponce, JVC CAC and Clinical Director, shares her own story of survivorship, the impact of child sexual abuse, and post- traumatic growth in the first of a series of new Julie Valentine Center videos celebrating Survivors and the work of JVC in our community. #SAAM2023 #CAP2023 #EndChildAbuse #EndSexualAssault #JVCHeroes
