Great Place To Work (GPTW) surveyed teammates using its proprietary Trust Index™ survey to measure the core of what it knows creates great workplaces — key behaviors that drive trust in management, connection with colleagues, and loyalty to the company.
The survey enabled teammates to share confidential quantitative and qualitative feedback about our organization’s culture by responding to 60 statements on a five-point scale and answering two open-ended questions. GPTW has been surveying employees for 30 years.

John Mattmuller, Assistant Controller, marks 15 years with the Spinx Company on today. He says he has remained with Spinx because of the privilege to work with a lot of great people over the years. He also said his values align closely with the Spinx core values. Solving issues in a fast-paced environment to make life easier for our customers and teammates makes his day rewarding. On Monday, September 18, Vice President of Merchandising Brendan Nugent, visited Spinx store 229 in Taylors to get more feedback from the team regarding a project. While speaking with Assistant General Manager Tralexis Fleming, a customer approached Brendan to share his feedback on the leadership team, the location, and, in particular, Tralexis. The customer chatted for roughly 20 minutes. The customer stated, "Tralexis always has a smile and a positive attitude no matter how busy the store is." The customer also said that the staff's willingness to help customers exceeds the typical service levels you would expect from the convenience channel, even other Spinx stores. He felt that Tralexis's smile, demeanor, and willingness to help are infectious and sees this with the rest of the frontline staff that interacts with the customers.
Our teammates leap into action when they see a need. Recently, Sallie Turner, FBM at store 191 in Simpsonville, engaged in a selfless act witnessed by Spinx Merchandising Coordinators John Washington and Michael Morton. The twosome was at the store to drop off merchandising equipment. As they were leaving, Sallie had just clocked out and was getting ready to get in her car when she heard a car wreck near the store. Without hesitation, Sallie sprinted towards the accident scene and crossed the road with traffic to help the driver whose car had flipped over. She then helped open the vehicle's back door and the driver's door to help get them out. Sallie remained at the scene until she knew they were okay, exemplifying the Spinx core values even on her personal time.
At Spinx, our teammates embrace our core values. We are giving a big thank you to the team at store 127 on Roper Mountain Road in Greenville. Several weeks ago, teammates jumped in to help residents displaced by a fire at an apartment complex nearby. The team at 127 provided water and snacks for the residents while firefighters battled the flames. Making Life Easier is what we do!
National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is this week. At Spinx, we love our 63 drivers. Without them, we could not serve our customers, making life easier. Our drivers are essential to our daily lives and the functioning business. Their role is indispensable, and they hold a special place in our collective appreciation and gratitude. We appreciate our truck drivers during Truck Driver Appreciation Week and every week of the year.
We think the world of our teammates, and so do our customers. Members of management visited their stores to recognize Melody and Marcus for going above and beyond to make life easier for customers, teammates, and the community.
Have a safe Labor Day! For the teammates laboring today, thank you for making life easier for our customers and the community.
We are raising our glasses to cheer Marcus McAlister, General Manager at store 100. We know he goes above and beyond to provide outstanding customer service.
Customer Matt Cotner sent us a note to let us know he also knows. Matt said, "I want to brag on your Pointset Highway general manager, Marcus. I just got my car cleaned, got filled up with gas, and went in to buy a cup of coffee. He's fantastic. Dressed very professionally. Managing the store like a champ. He bought a lot of loyalty from me. (I was already very loyal) great representative of the Spinx brand."
We thank the customer for their kind words about Marcus, and we thank Marcus for embracing the customer-focused core value.
