No Light like daylight!

We’ve just put in the windows in Phase 2 of our Bohemian Cottages Project. Windows are expensive, but far too often where developers, designers and builders look to do value engineering. There is no replacement for natural light, and no replacement for connecting to the outdoors. The anthill in motion!

Sometimes it seems like we have all our subcontractors at once. Today its: Concrete team, Framers, Trim carpenter, Plumbers, Painters, Roofers and cleaners. It can feel like chaos, but it is actually very carefully put together. Every part is very intentionally executed. This is done in time sequencing, coordination of material delivery, oversight, parking and much more. It may look and feel like an anthill, but in fact it’s more like an orchestra. This is how we keep momentum. It’s very exciting for us and the onlooking homeowners seeing it all come together.

Onward and Upward

We’ve begun framing on the Front row staircases at our Bohemian Cottages project (upper left). We are known for doing interesting staircases (Markley City Homes lower left and Augusta St. City Homes right.) We never miss an opportunity for a dynamic interplay between building scale and human scale, and connecting living spaces to the building architecture and the daylight.

Where the rubber meets the Road.

It’s important for us to recognize that we have some amazing partners that we work with. Some sub-contractors, such as our concrete sub, Tiger Concrete, we have been working with for over a decade. They offer a tremendous depth of knowledge and problem solving skills that allow us to overcome challenges and deliver the best possible results. Phase 2 is almost framed!

The first floor is a bedroom or home office, The second floor large and dynamic space for kitchen, living and outdoor, The third floor is a vaulted overlook of this development on the crest of a ridge just outside of the downtown core. All floors are connected with an open rail stair with a central opening in the stair that goes from the stained concrete of level 1 to the vaulted ceiling of level 3. We are looking forward to adding all the heavy timber and other architectural features that will unify the character of the project as a whole. One more big step!
