Not just meal delivery services, but all services for seniors are facing this financial crisis. Daily lunch programs at senior centers, transportation services, home care, all are suffering as demand has exploded, costs have skyrocketed, and funding has decreased for all of these services (not just government funding but also local philanthropy).
Senior meal-delivery nonprofits face lack of funding and growing waitlists across SC South Carolina nonprofits tasked with delivering senior citizens meals have too much of a need and not enough money to help growing amount of older adults.
Had an awesome crowd at Senior Action today for part B of my 225 years of Greenville History talk!
Bittersweet day as we said Happy Retirement to these two amazing women who have been with Senior Action for many many years! Agnes Young is a legend and first led our program in Greer and then moved to lead the program at Pleasant Valley Connection. She served over 30 years (fun fact: she was also our Executive Directorâs PE teacher in high school). Dorothy Taylor came to Senior Action as a faithful volunteer and then was hired to manage the lunch program at Orchard Park and then E North St. over 10 years ago. We will miss both of them terribly but they have earned it and now they can just relax and be members of Senior Action!
Senior Action may be closedâŠbut the store will be open!! 10a-6pm.
Itâs a yucky rainy dayâŠperfect for BINGO! Come play tonight and win $$$$. Doors open at 5:30, play starts at 6pm. $5 entrance, $15 program pack. 3715 E North St, Greenville.
Jaidra DuRant, Senior Actionâs Bellydance Basics instructor, gave a pop-up performance of folkloric Middle Eastern dance yesterday. Bellydance is great form of rhythmic exercise for core strength and spinal alignment. Check out her class on Tuesdays in June!
