The OB Ultrasound Clinic is currently booking appointments for a FREE ultrasound, which includes 3D/4D pictures for you to take home!!

Here are the current guidelines:

✅ You must be between 22-30 weeks pregnant (in May-July)
✅ Patients may bring TWO guests with them to the appointment.
🚫NO CHILDREN will be allowed to accompany patients to the appointment.
✅ You must bring a PRINTED copy of a permission letter from your doctor stating that it is ok for you to participate in our educational OB scanning lab at Greenville Tech (required).

⚠️Please note, you cannot participate in our lab without this note from your doctor and sometimes this can be difficult to get so make sure you get it early! You must bring a *printed* copy with you on the day of your appointment. ⚠️You will be turned away if you do not have your note in hand prior to the start of your appointment.⚠️

Dates: Please remember that the labs are for educational purposes and we are only scheduling patients who are 22-30 weeks pregnant. Patients who are too far along (31 weeks or more), will not be able to participate in our labs.

Twins, triplets, etc:
OB labs are held for teaching purposes with student sonographers who have limited experience scanning OB patients. At this time, we are unable to book appointments for anyone pregnant with twins due to the HIGH level of skill required to scan multiple babies.

Don’t miss a visit from the Bon Secours - St. Francis mobile medical van on Wednesday, May 29, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in parking lot L on the Barton Campus. The mobile van provides routine care and testing, which can include help with respiratory infections, chronic conditions, physicals, well child visits, lab services, and more. Greenville County Schools announced Greenville Technical College as its 2024 Partner of the Year at the annual Salute to Education celebration banquet. The college works closely with the district to provide students with dual credit opportunities through the college transfer program and within technical fields all at no cost to GCS students. GTC has more dually enrolled students than any other college in the state of South Carolina, with the majority of those being GCS students. 🦷🦷🦷🦷🦷🦷 Dental hygiene students Madison Brewer and Caroline Greer gave a presentation on brushing, flossing, overall good oral health practices, and nutrition to a group of special needs adults at Caine Halter Family YMCA. The second-year students used dental models to provide one-on-one demonstrations to each person as well. “We had a time of questions and a ton of fun together,” Carline Brewer said. “Before we left, we were showered with bear hugs and a few tears, due to all the fun we had. It was an incredible experience.”

GTC dental hygiene students regularly take advantage of opportunities to share their knowledge by engaging with the community.

Congratulations to Greenville Technical College employees Denisha Wilson, Marketing & Communications; and Stephanie Gregg, Corporate & Continuing Education Division; who completed the SC Technical College System Office Leadership Academy. Every two years, the SC Technical College System Office hosts the academy for employees within the technical college system to strengthen leadership capabilities and build a talent pipeline. Selected participants are those who have demonstrated skills and potential for upward mobility at their colleges and within the system.

Denisha Wilson is the graphic designer and creative director at GTC. Stephanie Gregg serves as operations manager for the Corporate and Continuing Education Division. Joining them for the award ceremony were Lauren Simer, VP for Institutional Effectiveness; Joshua Friesen, Director of Marketing & Communications; and Jennifer Moorefield, Associate VP for Corporate & Continuing Education.

The School of Arts & Sciences will host an open house on May 21 from 4-6 p.m. at the Dreisbach/Anderson Student Success Center on the Barton Campus. This event is for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university. Representatives from USC Upstate, Lander University, Winthrop University and the University of South Carolina will discuss transfer options and tracks. Greenville Technical College is observing summer operating hours May 6 - June 28, 2024. During this time offices will be open 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and closed to the public on Friday.

The GTC Dental Hygiene Program was the first in the state to fully integrate the use of Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) technology into its clinic. GBT is the systematic, predictable solution for dental biofilm management in professional prophylaxis using state-of-the art AIRFLOW®, PERIOFLOW® and PIEZON® technologies. The treatment is less invasive with the highest level of comfort, safety and efficiency, compared to traditional dental hygiene treatment.

The purchase 24 Airflow Prophylaxis Masters was made possible with funds provided by the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education (CTE) Act of 2006 (Perkins V), which focuses on improving academic and technical achievements for CTE learners. To become certified GBT providers, dental hygiene students, faculty and graduates of the program underwent extensive training from EMS and the Swiss Dental Academy.

Dr. Larry Miller, vice president of learning and workforce development, has been appointed to the Greenville Area Development Corporation’s board of directors by Greenville County Council Chairman Dan Tripp. Miller’s term on the 12-member board is underway and will end June 30, 2026.
