The big deal is that FlexSpring™ Insoles are comprised of continuous fiberglass fibers and not carbon. They are arranged laterally…encapsulated in thermoplastic with “living hinges” connecting all of the fibers so they function as a Flexible Spring….
These Fiberglass fibers (Over 100 per inch,…similar to in diameter to a human hair)…can deflect & elongate 3.5 times as much as carbon fiber…allowing much more energy return as they elongate on impact, storing energy, and then releasing that energy in a fluid motion as the foot moves through the gait cycle….(like hundreds of tiny Pole Vault Poles)……This allows the shoe to still be flexible lengthwise but more resistant to medial & lateral rotation ……So more stable side to side but still properly flexible in the forward direction …..The current carbon plated shoes on the market use carbon fibers arranged longitudinally in a thermoset resin matrix, such that they function rigidly….functioning more like a lever than as a flexible spring….So FlexSpring™ can be used daily and does not have the negative side effects related to the stiffness of carbon plates…such as Issues with Achilles Tendon, Soleus, Calf, ITBand; Patellar Tendon, Hamstring, Hip Flexors, & Glutes, that have become common for some runners who use the current carbon plated shoes too often in their training…..
