Our dear friend, and a multiple time participant in our 2SCOTS Honor Guard at our Games, Joey Davies is now Pipe Major of the 2 SCOTS - Pipes, Drums & Bugles. Congratulations Joey!

As the Platoon start their well earned Summer leave after a busy and very successful summer, we say our farewells to PMaj Gurung.

PMaj Gurung joined the platoon in 2020 transferring from Royal Ghurka Rifles (RGR). He has lead the platoon on exercises in Oman and through its busiest period of state ceremonial duties in recent memory, finishing off with winning Champion of Champions in Grade 4b.

We thank him for all his hard work over the past 4 years and wish him all best in his new Role as CQMS Balaclava Company, 5 SCOTS.

He hands over the appointment of 2 SCOTS Pipe Major to CSgt Davies. PMaj Davies joined 2 SCOTS in 2011 and having played the pipes before joining the army and was posted straight to the Pipes, Drums and Bugles.

He has taken part in 5 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoos, 3 of them as Lone Piper and has performed in the USA, Bermuda, Italy, Germany, the Middle East and Africa. He has played in both the Queens Diamond and Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, as well as the funeral of HM The Queen Elizebeth II and the Coronation of HM Charles III.

Operationally, he deployed on Op HERRICK 18 in 2013 as part of the Fire Support Group and deployed on Exercises to Kenya and Oman in various Assault Pioneer Roles.

PMaj Davies has been an instructor at the Army School of Bagpipe Music and Highland Drumming as a Corporal and Pipe Sergeant between 2018 to 2022. During this time he played with the Grade 2 Band, City of Edinburgh.

He hopes to build on the success the Band has already worked towards and looks forward to working with an amazing team.
