Power is when you have the information to destroy their reputation after they’ve wronged you, but you don’t. Power is choosing to be faithful with the one you said “I Do” to when you got others willing to be your Olivia Pope aka mistress. Power is when they call you to meet up for the next drug binge and you say, no thank you! Power is when they want to gossip and you say, I’m offended that you thought I wanted to hear gossip, I apologize if I gave you the impression that I’m a trash can. Power is when sin is calling your name, but you say, I’m a new creature in Christ….I guess what I’m saying is, go be powerful today because the word clearly says, if you hunger and thirst after right-living you will be filled! The key words are you have to hunger and thirst for what’s right!

Reality check! 🙌🏾

I often hear folk say, what’s the difference with them being in church and still doing the same thing that folk are doing in the streets. Listen! No one ever said because they attend church that the church is in them! They can attend church out of ritual or tradition! And I often hear this when it comes to women speaking of men. For example, women say, some men in the church are just as sneaky as the men in the streets. So, you do know men can be in the church for the same reason some women are in church, looking for a boo. Women like to talk as if they’re exempt from looking for a boo and they’re all about God. Not so. Both can be in the church and the church not in them.

The point is, how can you tell if male or female is blood bought? See how they treat their commitment to God and their neighbor! Because a lot of folk will tell you they have a relationship with God, but the cross is about a relationship with God and community. See how they treat their relationship with the Body of Christ (community). That’s other Believers. See if they have the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. And self-control isn’t just limited to not telling folk off. It may mean getting your mind out the gutter. That’s being in the church and the church not being in you. It’s what Bishop T C Daniels said a week ago! It’s being okay with being saved! And wanting to be saved. Today we got too many Christians who want some aspects of the church, but not the part that matters the most and that’s the fruit of the Spirit. Whereby we are formed in the image of Christ. If you still cursing folk out, tip toeing at night without remorse, I feel for you. Because you have a form of godliness without power! In other words, you look sanctified but you have no godly power. Laymen terms, you’re Louie but not Louis Vuitton. Ask anybody that’s ever bought the real thing! The later never goes on sale. P.S. and though most can’t tell the difference between the knock off and the real thing, when side by side, the creator of a thing always knows. So keep fooling us, keep fooling pastor, keep fooling the church, but you can never fool God! IJS.

So grateful for the journaling session led by at Mending Our Nets Retreat in Virginia Beach, VA. Her ministry gift blessed the ladies by challenging us to stop, reflect, and be present. 🙌🏾😇

Listen, if you’re one of the ones that doesn’t listen when given advice and you see the fruits of not listening is the reason for your struggle. In other words, you didn’t listen in the past and you’re struggling now because you didn’t listen when given sound advice. Wisdom says, you need to start listening and adhering to God-given advice. If not, the struggle gone be real and stay real. I often say, yes, you’ll get to say, you did it your way, but what did it cost you? Some decisions are too costly to be saying, I just wanted to see for myself when you got someone telling you! That’s what The Bible does. It tells us to stop and not run to mischief…but we’re running in fully aware! It’s like running into a burning house and saying, pray that I come out! Well, how about you not go in the burning house! Save us prayer and you harm! Prayer might get you out but you know what else will get you out? You not going in!And especially if God hasn’t graced you to go into a situation! Chile, Imma start saying, if you like it, I love it! Happy Monday Somebody! Beginning of the week Wisdom Nugget!

I keep going back to this pic because it is symbolic on so many levels but the one that resonates with me the most is, my back is turned from the waves, which represents the challenges, the things that come to overwhelm me. The ladies behind me represent a tribe that is standing, watching, accessing, alerting me, and even praying for calmer waves. Moral of the story, find you a tribe that will have your back! You are deserving of nothing less!
