With a job like this once the demolition is complete and the clean up done then it is so fun and exciting as it takes shape.

All selections for tile, bath/kitchen hardware completed. Stove and washer/dryer already delivered. Hardwood floor arrives next week for installation. All roughs for plumbing arrive next week. Planting around house done and growing beautifully.

And happily reporting the decking around the pool is already repaired. Don’t worry, it will be white washed.

I love adventures like this… keep moving and having fun!

Say hello to Melville Plaid.

The name “Melville” originates from Normandy, where Guillaume de Maleville, a trusted companion of William the Duke of Normandy, adopted the name after the Battle of Hastings in 1066, which secured Norman rule over England.

The Melville clan settled in the village of Melville, Midlothian, Scotland, during the reign of King David I.

Their motto, “Denique Coelum,” meaning “Heaven at Last,” perfectly captures the heavenly feel of this plaid.

Gretchen‘s dad was a WW2 Marine pilot, something he was very proud of. There are no ex-Marines, and George let no one forget it.

The only song he learned to play on his wife’s grand piano was the Marines’ hymn.

He was, however, terrified of flying. The very primitive planes and the extraordinary difficulty of carrier landings did not sit well with him. Even though technically qualified as a pilot, he never flew again.
