Our Community Liaison, Lucas, partnered with Mischa from our sister facility, Columbus Behavioral, to attend the Region 7 Department of Child Services (DCS) Provider Fair last week. He was able to share insight about our Girls Residential Treatment Center and the inpatient mental health services that Valle Vista provides to adolescents and adults. DCS staff from Delaware, Randolph, Jay, Blackford, Grant, Wells, and Adams Counties attended.

Our staff participated in the Out of the Darkness Walk on Saturday to raise awareness for su***de prevention. The walk gave our staff the opportunity to promote mental health wellness and also support others in memory of those who have died by su***de.

Last week, two of our Community Liaisons attended the annual Probation Officers Professional Association of Indiana (POPAI) Conference in French Lick. Over the course of two days, Ashley and Warren met and talked with hundreds of probation and DCS employees. They were able to receive feedback from referral partners to help ensure we are providing the best care possible as well as educate others on our services.
Our CEO, Kristen, provided a training on adolescent self-harm last week at Valle Vista. The presentation explored types of self-harm, the culture surrounding it, and treatment interventions. Over 60 youth workers attended both in-person and virtually.

This session will explore the differences between suicidal and non-suicidal self-injury, discuss the culture of self-harm among teens, and identify short and long-term interventions for youth who engage in self-injurious behavior. Our Community Liaison, Lucas, attended the Region 12 DCS Provider Fair in Connersville last Thursday. The farm themed event brought out DCS staff from several counties. Lucas joined other service providers in sharing resources about Valle Vista's inpatient, residential, and outpatient services.

Yesterday, we held open tours of our girls Residential Treatment Center (RTC) for DCS and Probation employees. Participants were given tours of the unit where our RTC girls reside while they are here with us. They also got to visit the courtyard and pool (yes, we have a pool!), the gymnasium, and the recreational therapy room, where they were able to sample different snacks that were grown, harvested and prepared by the girls who are currently with us!
It allowed them to see a small portion of the daily life, programming and support the girls receive when they are in our RTC.
