👨🏻‍⚕️👩🏼‍⚕️More learning during Skin Cancer Awareness month! This patient had some trauma to her nail but several months later came in to see us because she developed the discoloration by her cuticle that was not resolving. The yellow arrow is pointing out the abnormal darker area surrounded by a lighter area. This was a melanoma skin cancer. Early detection is key as these can be aggressive skin cancers.
What can you do? If you see a changing mole or new brown spot, get it evaluated by your board-certified dermatologist physician! Wear sunscreen on your hands if you get your nails done with UV. Also please don’t wear nail polish when you come in to have skin lesions checked!

👩🏼‍⚕️👨🏻‍⚕️May is Skin Cancer Awareness month! Let’s learn! The spot with the green arrow is a squamous cell skin cancer, and the spot with the yellow arrow is an actinic keratosis pre-cancer lesion which can turn into a squamous cell cancer if left untreated.
What can you do? Wear sunscreen, get your lesions checked and treated early, use retinoids and antioxidants to keep your skin healthy, and use to reverse DNA mutations from sun damage that you’ve had over the years! We will have a skin cancer event this month! More details coming soon 🙌🙌
