There’s something new to discover everyday making the FMS Buttefly Station the perfect place for repeat visits! What to do with those solar eclipse glasses? Donate them! We're collecting them in our lobby for Astronomers Without Borders. They'll distribute them to locations around the world, including Africa and Asia, so people everywhere can enjoy eclipses safely. Thank you!

Congrats to Levi, our volunteer of the week! He did an amazing job on tours and sharing his knowledge with visitors.
Congrats, as well, to Jack, our volunteer of the year! Jack did a fantastic job catching butterflies and learning how to make origami butterflies.🦋👍🐛😊

Each summer we task our volunteers to find a way to leave the Butterfly Station better than they found it. We call these their passion projects. This year, veteran volunteers Chloe, Shreya, and Anju designed a painting for the other side of our wooden Karner Blue Butterfly selfie station. Their work is absolutely beautiful! Special thanks to Eric, Jane, Dom, and Sammy, who helped with painting the girls’ amazing design. (Special shout out to our model, Jack!)

Just a heads up, the Butterfly Station won’t be holding our Adoption Day this year. ☹️
We had really low numbers and not enough caterpillars or chrysalises to have the adoption day. Sorry to everyone who looks forward to it.

Congrats to our volunteer of the week, Evan! Before our visitors leave the Butterfly Station, they take the time to complete our feedback survey. Evan got the most shouts!

This year, we have two races visitors can try when they visit: Butterfly Sack Race and Are You Faster Than A Butterfly? Both were created by our amazing student volunteers!

Houston, we have Monarch eggs!

Special thanks to all of our visitors on our opening day. We had a total of 31! Thanks, too, for their generosity. We received $28.00 in donations.

Who’s going to be our first visitor? The rain is gone, and we are ready and open for the public! Come on down! We are open until 1:00.🐛🦋😊

Our Session 1 student volunteers had their first day, but it wasn’t spent at the Butterfly Station. We started things off differently this year by taking a field trip down the road to visit the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. We took a 1-mile hike with our two amazing guides Morgan and Pam, which included sightings of the endangered Karner Blue Butterfly, explored the Discovery Center, and enjoyed pizza courtesy of the Friends of the Pine Bush. We learned so much to enrich our own program. Special thanks to Erin Kinal for organizing everything!

For the next two days, we will be setting things up and training our newest volunteers to get ready for tours starting Thursday. We hope to see you all this summer!🦋
