LuLu's restaurant group announces new corporate President & COO, Johnny Fisher

Gulf Shores, AL (September 16, 2024)…Lucy Buffett, founder, and owner of LuLu’s restaurants with locations in Gulf Shores, AL, Destin, FL and North Myrtle Beach, SC, announces Johnny Fisher as the new President and COO. A native of Mobile, AL, Fisher has a long-time impressive background in the restaurant industry, including being the General Manager of LuLu’s in Gulf Shores from 2005 to 2012.

“I am thrilled to have Johnny Fisher take the helm of LuLu’s,” commented Lucy Buffett. “There is no question that he was responsible for putting our Gulf Shores LuLu’s on the map during his tenure as GM. Now, in his capacity as President and COO overseeing all my restaurants, there’s no question that he will maintain and grow our long-standing reputation and tradition as destination restaurants where families come for our unique experience, exceptional Gulf Coast food, and fun-filled, musical entertainment. This is his specialty.”

Fisher came to LuLu’s from New Orleans, where he was the Director of Restaurant Operations at the House of Blues for several years. While at the LuLu’s in Gulf Shores, Fisher grew their events and culture which increased their sales ten-fold. Following his years with LuLu’s in Gulf Shores, he was a founder and co-owner of ‘The Gulf’ restaurant in Orange Beach, AL. Fisher went on to found and co-own sister restaurants, Fisher’s at Orange Beach Marina and Playa in Orange Beach. Most recently, Fisher was Director of Florida Operations of New Orleans-based Juan’s Flying Burrito.

Fisher said, “I am very much looking forward to this opportunity to work again with Lucy Buffett as the President and COO of her three remarkable LuLu’s waterfront restaurants and working with our talented managers and staff. There is nothing but more positivity ahead for our guests’ dining experience at all our locations.”

Has Carnival come to LuLu's in Gulf Shores?? Well, LuLu's 2022 Coconut of the Year, Pollyanna Da Silva Halka, has! Our Brazilian-born busser enjoys the positive work environment and the camaraderie with her co-workers. Her menu go-to? You guessed it: the Key West Bowl. LuLu's é lindo maravilhoso!

Out of an abundance of caution, LuLu's Gulf Shores will be closing tonight at 8pm for Hurricane Francine. Our plan is to reopen as usual, tomorrow at 11am. Stay safe friends!

Florida legislature names Friday as ‘Jimmy Buffett Day’. The Florida Legislature has selected a day to recognize and celebrate Jimmy Buffett Day. On Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, the first Jimmy Buffett Day will be recognized and celebrated as a day of service.

“We encourage you to find a way to be of service to make an impact on your community.”
Margaritaville Resorts said the day will support Jimmy’s Singing for Change and other charitable organizations to honor his legacy by giving back to the community.

“We will honor Jimmy by doing what he did best – connect with people in a genuine way, quietly make noise, and honor his wish for us to keep the party going.”

Return to Gulf Coast and The “Original,” LuLu’s Sunset Grill:

In her forties, Lucy answered the call to return to her Gulf Coast roots to help care for her elderly and ailing parents and opened a little dive on Week’s Bay in Fairhope, Alabama called LuLu’s Sunset Grill, a combination bait shop/burger joint bar. The restaurant was a hit and became a beloved local watering hole until five years later when her land lease was not renewed. Through good times, sad times, sunshine, and natural disasters, LuLu and the “glorified bait shop” persevered until they realized they couldn’t try to fit 5 lbs of sugar in a 2 lb bag any longer.

Smoked tuna dip... onion rings... dressings and sauces? They all sound delicious, but not if they're premade or pulled from the freezer! At LuLu's, when we say "house made," we mean fresh, never frozen, and made to order—and that includes our savory dressings and sauces! Why? Because LuLu loves ya too much for anything less.
