Tomorrow is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and a holy day of obligation. We encourage you to check what Mass times are being offered near you.
We are so very thankful for our heavenly Mother’s care and intercession! Let everyday be a reminder of the unique role that the Blessed Virgin Mary serves in our salvation.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us! 🙏🏼
Always keep in your prayer as they discern the call to the priesthood. Today, in particular, we ask that you pray for Austin Smith.
Join us in prayer 🙏🏼
God our Father, You made each of us to use our gifts in the Body of Christ. We ask that You inspire young people whom You call to the priesthood and consecrated life to courageously follow Your will. Amen.
It is back-to-school week! Please keep all students, parents, families, teachers, faculty and staff in your prayers as the new school year begins.
Our gospel today calls us to reflect on the question, to whom do we owe our allegiance? For the disciples it wasn’t always clear and even for us today there can be confusion.
For the disciples just hearing Jesus say that he would be handed over and killed and would rise on the third day, had to be devastating and painful. Matthew wrote that they were overwhelmed with grief.
Then Peter is confronted by the temple tax collectors. Interestingly, the tax collectors do not question Jesus directly. So typical of those who are afraid to face the truth.
Jesus, the Son of God, was not bound by human regulations; nevertheless, to avoid offense, he appointed Peter to fish for the money to pay the tax.
As Franciscans we profess that following the example of Jesus, we live in this world as pilgrims and strangers neither appropriating nor defending anything as our own. May we truly live our lives for Christ and so give glory and praise to our God.
HAPPY FEAST DAY OF OUR SERAPHIC MOTHER ST. CLARE OF ASSISI!
If you cannot attend the Ecumenical Prayer Service in person at 6:30 p.m. on August 13th at St. Jude the Apostle Cathedral, you are welcome to join the live stream as we gather in prayer to defeat Amendment 4, Florida’s Pro-Abortion Amendment.
