Each year Keller Williams agents step away from their business to donate in their communities. It’s called Red Day and it’s been happening since 2009. This year Keller Williams Cedar Creek Lake Properties will be lending a helping hand at The Humane Society at Cedar Creek Lake. We will be spending the day at the shelter helping with needed projects and you can help us make an even bigger impact on this important local organization by helping us gather items they need in their daily operation. Hello friends ,as your trusted real estate advisor its important that I pass on some valuable information regarding property taxes and possible changes to your homestead exemption. We are all already a bit overwhelmed with property tax increases so please read on so you are not taken by surprise!
Under the new regulations, Texas homeowners may now be required to renew their homestead tax exemption every five years. This marks a departure from the previous rule, where the exemption was typically a one-time filing, remaining in effect until the property was sold.
The amended Code now requires periodic reviews of exemptions by appraisal districts, empowering field appraisers to request updated applications to verify continued eligibility for a given exemption, including the homestead exemption.
While not all homeowners will be affected, many may need to reapply. Should you receive a letter from your appraisal district, it's crucial not to overlook it. If you have any inquiries, don't hesitate to reach out to the district office.
Please ensure prompt response with the required information within the specified timeframe. In the majority of cases, the appraisal district will handle the exemption renewal smoothly.
