Hahaha
The Gurnee American Legion Post 771 would like to wish a happy Armed Forces Day to our brothers and sisters currently serving. Today we honor all six branches of our military and acknowledges their dedication, sacrifices, and the pivotal role they play in safeguarding our nation's interests, security and ideals.
Thank you for carrying on our values to protect the nation we veterans also love.
Armed Forces Day is specifically for honouring current active-duty military personnel. There are around 1.3 million Americans that actively serve in the United States military.

Each year, National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day offers people across the country the chance to rid their homes of potentially dangerous prescription drugs that are unused, expired, unwanted, and potentially hazardous.
Lovell FHCC is one of the locations you can bring your prescriptions to, to safely deposit in a locked drop-box by the pharmacy, just inside the main entrance to our Ambulatory Care Clinic, Bldg. 133EF, 3001 Green Bay Road, North Chicago.
If you can't make it to Lovell FHCC, there are many other participating places, including local police departments. You can learn more about this event, and find a location near you, by visiting https://www.dea.gov/takebackday.

Attention Post and Auxiliary Members: It’s that time of year again: National Poppy Days.
This year, the Gurnee American Legion Auxiliary Unit 771 used Poppy money on Buddy Baskets for homeless Vets transitioning to an apartment, Backpacks for homeless Vets, Adopt-A-Platoon for our Vets overseas, and supported parties and bingo at JALFHCC (Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center) .
The Gurnee Auxiliary and the Gurnee Legion will be collecting donations Friday and Saturday May 17 and 18 at Jewel on Hunt Club in Gurnee 9-3 each day.
On Friday and Saturday May 24-25 we will be located at Ace Hardware in Gurnee across the street from the Post.
We rely on your volunteer time for these funds. Auxiliary and Post work together for this event.

To show military children our gratitude and recognize their bravery, April is dedicated as Military Child Appreciation Month, officially known as the Month of the Military Child (MOMC). Created in the mid-1980s, military support organizations use the month to honor the sacrifice and commitment our military children make every day.
In addition to April focusing on military children, there is also a specific day to honor them — Purple Up! Day — April 15, 2024. On this special day, people are encouraged to wear purple as a symbol of support for military kids.
