๐Ÿˆ NFL Football is officially back, and so is ๐Ÿ‘๐ƒ๐๐“'๐ฌ ๐๐…๐‹ ๐ˆ๐ง๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐‘๐ž๐ฏ๐ข๐ž๐ฐ! ๐Ÿš‘

First on the agenda: Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love's MCL sprain, sustained during the Eagles vs. Packers matchup in Sรฃo Paulo, Brazil!

After a strong performance at the end of last season, the Packers had high expectations of their newer QB, Jordan Love. Unfortunately, Week 1 did not go the way of Green Bay. The team lost to the Eagles 29-35 (E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!) and with just 6 seconds left of the game, Love got wrapped up in a tackle from Eagles defenders Jalen Carter and Josh Sweat and went down awkwardly, with what was later reported as a sprained Medial Collateral Ligament, or MCL.

The MCL, a key knee stabilizer, can be stretched or torn if the knee bends inward. This injury affects stability and puts extra stress on the meniscus, making rest and full healing crucial. Heโ€™s expected to be out for 3-6 weeks and he'll definitely be spending lots of time with his PT team during the time off

Kendall attended Lenape High School before receiving her undergrad from St. Josephโ€™s University. She then moved on to attain her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Sciences. ๐Ÿ‘

Her interest in physical therapy started unlike many athletes growing up who describe experiencing several bouts of physical therapy themselves and falling in love with the profession. Being an athlete for over 20 years, Kendall was lucky enough to never sustain any serious injuries. However, she was first introduced to the profession as a freshman at the University of the Sciences, where many of her teammates were physical therapy majors. โœ…

Outside of physical therapy, she loves spending time with her family, going to the shore or the Outer Banks, trying out new restaurants and coffee shops, and watching lots of sports.

Tennis elbow is tendinopathy of wrist extensor muscles where they cross the elbow. Tennis elbow can be exacerbated by a variety of activities emphasizing wrist extension. Here are some exercises you can try to strengthen the wrist extensors and surrounding muscles to address your symptoms:

1๏ธโƒฃ Dowel Supinator Eccentrics: 3 sets of 8 reps (5 sec per rep) for improved strength and stability.
2๏ธโƒฃ Zottman Curls: 3 sets of 10 reps to strengthen your elbow in all planes of motion.
3๏ธโƒฃ Banded Pronation: 3 sets of 10 reps to enhance strength and stability.
4๏ธโƒฃ Banded Forearm Rollers: 3 sets of 5 lifts to boost grip and stability.

In this video series, Dr. Christina Diamantis will demonstrate 3 progressions of dead bugs:

โœจ Unilateral Dead bug with Foam Roller: Press the foam roller between your knee and elbow, slowly extend the opposite side together

โœจ Kettlebell Resistance: Hold a kettlebell overhead, extend your arms together overhead and one leg at a time

โœจ Theraband Resistance: Loop a resistance band around a stable surface. Hold both arms overhead and maintain that position as you extend one arm at a time.

Sam Gardner originally started working at 3DPT in Medford but was soon moved to the new Cherry Hill 3DPT when it opened back in 2019. She was side by side with Chuck and Anthony through the challenging times of building the business from the beginning and during the tough times during COVID. She has been an integral part of the growth of 3DPT Cherry Hill and has enhanced the patient and employee experience. ๐Ÿฅฐ

It is bittersweet to see such a special person leave our office and move on to graduate school to become an Occupational Therapist. Sam will be a tremendous asset to her new profession. ๐Ÿคฉ
