2023 Was a Good Year at Gatekeepers! How Can You Support the Mission? Washington County, being home to several State and local correctional facilities, is a prison-centric county. Many individuals fail to adequately prepare for life beyond prison and, upon release, they quickly find themselves struggling to meet their basic needs, such as shelter, food, clothing, and will often turn back to drugs, alcohol, and/or crime in order to survive thus creating a serious public safety concern in the community…. Gatekeepers holds a mission to motivate, empower, and encourage returning citizens as they transition from jail or prison and back into the community by providing basic needs assistance, re-entry planning, coaching, as well as the ongoing support needed to help keep individuals from reoffending and ending up back in prison. With many staff and volunteers being ex-offenders, Gatekeepers is uniquely qualified to address the needs of inmates and returning citizens in Washington County. With the help of so many Gatekeepers has had another successful year in it's ten years of existence Take a Look & Listen 👇 Basic Needs Assistance Provided Housing $347,259 Food $35,390 Clothing $22,865 Household Furnishings $33,650 Transportation $44,368 Cell Phones $34,149 Utilities $4,464 Other Needs $16,662 Total $538,807 Support the Mission at www.gatekeepersmd.org

Alva Moses is Gatekeepers' honorary poet. He frequently blesses our Resource Club with one of his poems touching the hearts of many of our members and speaking life into the community. Our most recent Resource Club had a theme of hope. Alva spoke powerfully to that theme as hope has been a cornerstone of his life. He even has HOPE tattooed on his forehead to never forget its immense meaning to him.Meet Alva and the entire Gatekeepers Family every Saturday at Resource Club!
