AUCTION: New Moore Bettah Custom Tenor
This is an extremely rare and incredible masterpiece from renowned Big Island luthier Chuck Moore. It’s made with the most incredible master grade Hawaiian koa and features gorgeous inlays. Corey reviews and samples this gorgeous new ukulele.
This Moore Bettah is exquisite in tone and feel. As far as the looks, there’s a lot to enjoy and admire. Let’s start with the inlay.
This inlay is called “Ka Loko”, a water reservoir on the island of Kauai. It’s a gorgeous tropical setting with burled dyed woods and the wahine at the headstock was created with faux ivory scrimshawed. This is a pointillistic form of art that Chuck does with an Xacto blade and hundreds of little dots he fills in with ink. This gives the depth and realism you can’t get with typical inlay styles. It’s an ancient form of art that’s rare now and Chuck does it amazingly!
This tenor features a stunning set of mastergrade koa, the golden ukulele tonewood indigenous to our islands. This one is as fabulous as you can find and is framed off with ebony binding all over including the side soundport, curved end graft, and heel cap. The ebony arm bevel adds comfort and style. Speaking of style, top quality abalone shell purflings frame off the top, back, fretboard, faceplate, as well as a super gorgeous rosette. Abalone was also used for the fret markers, and at the 12th fret area you have another tropical inlay for a wonderful aesthetic continuity. The tuners are geared 4:1 ratio classic styled pegheds for a vintage look and modern fine tuning.
This is a very lightweight custom tenor ukulele with a powerful yet warm balanced tone. It has incredible sustain and accurate intonation all over the neck. The playability is wonderful and a carbon-fiber rod is in the neck to ensure it maintains that perfect feel. Having an ukulele this easy to play, with this wonderful of a sound, is very special. Add in the original art and you have a real treasure.
Includes Oahu hardshell case, humidifier, and free shipping.
This is an almost new Kamaka HF-3 in mint condition with an LR Baggs pickup installed. It sounds and looks great and the regular sale price for this package $2144 so you can get a sweet deal right now.
This instrument almost needs no introduction, but for those that are not aware, the Kamaka Tenor is like the Martin Dreadnaught, like the Gibson F style Mandolin, like the Fender Stratocaster. For the ukulele, it is the classic. These tenors have a consistent neck and are assembled with a deep understanding of musical instrument making. It has been an essential tool for many of the best players out there. The HF-3 is one we will always struggle to keep in stock, but if it says in stock, then this beautiful ukulele is available here now!
The Kamaka semi-gloss finish is awesome! Often at the NAMM music trade show Kamaka brings their semi-gloss finish. It feels like an upgrade, much smoother and it has a beautiful sheen to show off the wood’s rich coloring. The look is very clean and classy and we almost always order our Kamaka this way.

This is the gorgeous #100 ukulele from luthier, Peter Marreiros. It’s as great a tenor as we’ve experienced and the woods and inlays make it a true work of art.
Just a week ago Peter’s property and workshop in North Carolina were flooded and mostly destroyed by this horrific hurricane. He has a long road to recovery and our prayers go out to him and everyone suffering losses from this tragedy. Mahalo for your support to one of our communities most gifted luthiers.
Around this time last year Peter contacted us to fully donate a super decked out custom to our auction for victims of the Maui wildfires. Now he finds himself in the middle of a disaster zone struggling to get back to proper living and working conditions. The original price for this amazing and special #100 Cornerstone ukulele was going to be $13,900. We are doing this as an auction in hopes that it gets more than that because all the proceeds are going to Peter who needs our support at this time.
This tenor features an asymmetric double top with sinker cedar and sinker redwood. One of the most stunning cuts from “The Tree” quilted mahogany is used on the back and sides. This is a coveted and rare wood from an amazing tree.
“The Tree” is a famous mahogany tree cut in the Honduras’ Chicibul Jungle in 1965. It was huge with a magnificent spiraling bark and loggers knew it would be amazing and, though it was in a crazy part of the jungle, they went for it. But they couldn’t get it out. It fell down a ravine. Other people came and tried and no one could get it out for 18 years. As you know, it did have amazing figure but it also has more density and properties of rosewood in it’s tone as well. Because of this, and it’s scarcity, it became the most sought after wood for custom guitars for years. Not much of this wood is still around but this amazing set was donated by Jay Howlett for the people of Maui and Peter certainly used it well.
4 concert rebels
This is a super cool new limited edition pineapple tenor from Rebels signature series that brought us their most popular customs including the Alchemist and No.6.
π (Pi) is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, approximately equal to 3.14159 but it’s an irrational and transcendental number with an infinite number of digits. This Pi has all the right math for a delicious tone, unique custom looks, and a superb feel.
This ukulele is set up with a fluorocarbon low G but we can set it up with a wound low G for more punch or high G as well if you prefer that.
This is a truly special ukulele designed by Rebel artist Yo and crafted by their head builder Chote. The design is both creative and practical and the construction is exquisite. Chote built custom furniture for many years before learning lutherie from Paul and Griz from KoAloha quite a few years back. This ukulele is unique and beautiful but what is most impressive is the tone. It has a warm body of sound while still retaining clear focus and wonderful sustain.
Our goal as a store is to carry the absolute best ukuleles in the world. We are proud to offer you this ukulele, not just because it’s cool and different, but because of its amazing resonance, effortless playability, and excellent value.
This includes the Rebel gig bag but you can upgrade to an Oahu hard case for the best protection. The included Humistat humidifier can also be upgraded. Don’t hesitate to add this amazing tenor to your collection. We guarantee you will love it!
Uke Magic 🎵 - https://mailchi.mp/theukulelesite/newsletter-9-14-24
This is the flagship KP concert from Kiwaya. It features premium curly Hawaiian koa framed off with abalone shell and curly maple. It’s finished in a perfect gloss finish for a truly a beautiful instrument. Along with the glorious woods and adornments, the craftsmanship is top of the line!
This is Kiwaya’s more modern design and it has an awesome tone and feel! This is a wonderful concert ukulele for fingerpicking or any style of play. It feels great and it sounds fantastic!
This concert features all solid koa and top of the line materials. Compared to the classic vintage styled Kiwaya it has a wider body with a more shallow body depth, a wider nut width on a slender D shaped neck, and larger more modern fret wire and 14 frets to body with 18 total frets. It also has cool modern offset fretboard markers in abalone, the Gotoh gold geared tuning keys, and Worth brown strings. All construction and materials are from Japan.
The result is a beautiful, very comfortable, and amazingly resonant concert ukulele.
Kiwaya is known for its precise construction and this is no exception. It’s an extremely clean build with impressive craftsmanship. We include the final setup work we are famous for that will make it feel even better, and the hardshell case for a superb, professional level concert ukulele package.
Stay tuned for our next episode🤙

PEPE ROMERO CUSTOM 5 SERIES (KOA TENOR #235)
Pepe Romero is a custom builder from California. He has been making classical guitars for many years and in the past 10-15 years has become known within the ukulele community for the incredible tone his tenors have. We are huge fans of his work here! Pepe’s instruments are light in weight, open in sound, and have a distinct sonic character that inspires music.
This ukulele has gorgeous Hawaiian koa and is framed off with paua abalone. It’s also one of the best tones we’ve ever experienced. Corey gives us a sound sample and review.
Pepe is regarded among the absolute best ukulele makers for good reason. The volume, range, and clarity are incredible! This is certainly a dream uke with ultimate tone. It’s rare to get a Pepe custom, but this one is extra special and we give it our highest recommendations.
Build features giving this huge, clean, deep projection include the skin bracing entirely unique to Pepe’s customs and the spanish heel design neck. Add in beautiful woods and appointments and we think you’re gonna love it!
Kamaka has been making ukes for over 100 years now and the 8 string tenor was first created by them. Also known as “the Liliu VIII,” the Tenor 8-String was designed by Sam Kamaka Jr. in 1976 to commemorate the Bicentennial of the United States.
The 8-string has all four strings doubled, with the third and fourth pair tuned in octaves. Played with standard ukulele tuning and fi*****ng, the sound is rich and unique. The paired strings are played together like a 12-string guitar. It creates very smooth strumming and is a big part of the Hawaiian sound.
This one we just received is exceptional, as you can see.
We were excited to get this custom order from Kanile’a and they delivered big time with this beautiful tenor. Their D Series design brings a bigger, wider tonal range and this wood combo makes it extra sweet!
This is a one-of-a-kind custom from Kanile’a with a bearclaw spruce top, known for it’s strong, clear tone. This pairs perfectly with the dramatically attractive myrtle wood. This must be the most beautiful myrtle I’ve seen and the tone is rich with characteristics in between mahogany and rosewood.
Curly koa frames off this tenor with top and back binding as well as a koa arm bevel. It also has a side sound port bound in koa and koa fretboard markers and logo inlay.
This is a very light weight tenor and one thing that adds to that is the Gotoh UPT tuners. We love to order our customs with Gotoh UPT because they are the classic rear facing but not friction. They’re geared 4:1 ratio for precise tuning in a light weight classy look.
The sound of this custom Hawaiian tenor is among the finest we’ve heard. There’s a sweetness and depth while still maintaining excellent clarity and projection. It’s light in weight but bold with tone.
You’re gonna love the sound, feel, unique beauty, and overall exquisite quality of this Hawaiian-made tenor ukulele!
This is an amazing one-of-a-kind custom tenor from luthier, Peter Marreiros, in Southern California. This one is especially gorgeous with the beloved and elusive master grade Koa. Peter’s build style is magical with this beautiful Hawaiian tonewood. The tones are thick and articulate with fantastic sustain.
This ukulele has many fantastic features starting with the stunning koa finished in a wonderful gloss finish. Inlay materials include Black Opal recon stone, abalone, and koa. Other specs include the “half-sail” headstock with curly koa, in house aged and hardened oxbone for the saddle and nut, a koa neck with a smooth burst finish flowing into the ebony backplate, and a perfect gloss finish to show it all off.
Along with the oval soundhole, it has three small side ports opening up the sound for extra clarity. Cornerstone has a super-rich, deep tone, and pairs perfectly with the added clarity and midrange koa gives. The side ports add a more spacious quality to the projection.
You’ll notice the distinctive arm bevel which makes it extra comfortable to rest your arm on and looks super cool. Speaking of comfort, the action is nice and low and the fingerboard has a radius for left-hand comfort when chording.
All of these features and more make for a phenomenal one-of-a-kind custom tenor with a fat tone and wonderful feel. The beauty and overall exquisite quality of this custom tenor ukulele will inspire joyous play for many years.
This ukulele is both a work of art and a phenomenal tenor uke and we think you’re gonna love it!
Spending some time at the 'Oli factory this week with luthier Ryan Condon.
Ukulele Uplifts You! 🎶 - https://mailchi.mp/theukulelesite/newsletter-5-5-485683
This is a custom 18” scale tenor from Ono. Ono ukuleles are made in Ashland, Oregon by David Ingalls. He has been making these Ono ukes since 2010 and had previously been involved in boat making and a “serious hobbyist” machinist. We first found Ono ukes years back and were impressed with the sound and build quality. Since then they’ve just gotten better and better. He made this 18” scale tenor for us in a unique new way and it sounds superb!
This is a radius double top with nicely silked Western Red Cedar and Sitka Spruce for the interior. The sides and back are both two layers of figured bubinga wood. The “Flying Buttress” design along with the radius double top allows for no transverse braces needed. The unique design and cantilever to float the end of his fingerboard maximize the space on the top that can vibrate. All of these aspects allow for this extra special sound to come out.
This is the attractive new shape and design from David with a more rounded body, sleek new cantilever, and a unique double sound/ side port placement.
David introduced grafting woods into his builds for the same reason some of the top high-end classical builders do this, for the tone. It adds to the structural stability allowing for lighter bracing and a more open sound with incredible volume when done just right. Once you play it you’ll see for yourself.
This has David’s cantilevered fingerboard with carbon fiber neck and bridge plate reinforcement, and a lovely poly satin lacquer finished body and a comfy smooth satin neck. Another feature is the Gotoh 4:1 gear ratio tuners. They’ve become a favorite of our for their look, lightweight, and smooth precision in tuning and holding pitch.
This ukulele is extremely easy to play partly because of the 16” fretboard radius it has. This slight curve makes chording even easier and along with nice low action gives you an ukulele you can play for hours. We are including an arched top tenor wooden hard case that fits this uke perfectly!

Brand new from Rebel Ukulele! This is an all-solid mango tenor with a big sweet tone, a florentine cutaway body style, and a fantastic feel. We are truly impressed with this new model and think you will be as well!
This was made with solid mango wood and has a beautiful gloss finish to protect and show it off. Other features include ebony fretboard with unique maple fret marker inlays, and Gotoh UPT 4:1 geared lightweight vintage-styled tuners. It feels great, looks beautiful, and the sound is one we love.
This ukulele is set up with a fluorocarbon low G but we can set it up high G for you if you prefer that.
Our goal as a store is to carry the absolute best ukuleles in the world. We are proud to offer you this ukulele, not just because it’s cool and different, but because of it’s amazing resonance, effortless playability, and excellent value.
This includes the Rebel gig bag but we suggest the upgrade to an Oahu hard case for the best protection. The included Humistat humidifier can also be upgraded. Don’t hesitate to add this amazing tenor to your collection. We guarantee you will love it!
