I keep seeing this ad below for the e bike I got a couple years ago...

Oh, ya know...back when my plan was to be even more green and cool, & ride to work every day, save myself on some gas money, help our planet even more, get fresh air, try to get a bit healthier... blah blah blah...
Now it just brings back the memory of me breaking my tailbone and ending up being what eventually kicked off my sh*ttilly epic Ovarian cancer journey of the past 2 years. 🫠 😒

But before I let myself complain more, and bring everyone's spirit down... I'll remember that there's a lot of people much worse off than me rn, and I'll also recall...(maybe not so fondly)... that in a weird round- about way, it all saved my life.. so far.
Cancer caught late, but not too late. I'm blessed to be able to continue my fight and continue to have hope that I still may win.

Thanks to y'all for the continued prayers, messages and well wishes. I appreciate them all. 💖

I swear I was focused for about 43 minutes of the 2 hrs I was at Sunshine's Yard Supply today.
🌋right up until I saw the stray cat laying on the rug out there in the old bones brokedown greenhouse, looking like he needed some comfort of his own... he was really enjoying that thin little rug. Poor fella.

Thats when my ADHD kicked into high gear...and the Stray Cat Hotel was built! So much for all the other things I had planned to do, they'll be there next time I go.
I really hope he ends up using this box.. I would. I made it really nice and cozy in there! 🐈‍⬛ Meow! 😻

These were donated last year by a gal who was hoping that when they sold, I'd donate the proceeds to the Ovarian Cancer Project or Roswell.
Well sadly, they haven't sold. And they're just sitting around here getting in worse shape.
I have no indoor storage to keep things nice. 😪

15 Plants for a Purpose volunteers came out today to help button things up at Sunshine's Yard Supply for the season.

I honestly don't know what I'd do without the help and kindness of others. I'm really struggling again, but the Universe keeps putting amazing souls on my path. And because of that, it puts wind in my sails and I keep going!

Since Day 1 at Sunshines, I knew it was my calling, my true purpose in life. I believe with my entire heart & soul that I am doing what I was put here on Earth to do. However, lately, I'm pretty tired and I keep questioning why I am trying so damn hard to keep this place going... I take one step forward here, and then some "things" happen to make me go 3 steps backwards, whether it's infrastructure related, health related, financial, ..or whatever. I start to feel like the world is working against me.
Then the Universe sends somebody in to tell me how much they love the place...how much they believe in me and what I'm trying to do..... How beautiful our plants are.... How they love the vibe of the place...And also how amazing it is that so many people want to volunteer here and help out with what we are doing out in the community... and how they believe there is a great need for what we're doing for others.

And THAT is what keeps me going. It surely makes me question things even more, but I keep going, knowing and believing that it will pay off some day. But how??? I have no idea.

SOMEHOW, the Good Lord keeps allowing me to pay the bills over there.... and is keeping me alive and gives me what I need to survive.
I'll never get rich selling flowers and these crazy used yard trinkets... but that's not the point of my life, or any of this.
I'm rich in so many other ways that I cannot count. It's quite remarkable...I'm so blessed and very lucky.

Kindness is contagious.

I met 4 yr old Riley last week when she came in to buy a mum with her Grandma. She was shy at first, but I was determined to make a new friend.(😉 as usual)

We fed the fish, looked around at some cool rocks and plants, and then we came upon some little animal figurines that someone had donated a while back.
I asked Riley what her favorite animal was, she said it was a dog. 🐾 I told her they were my favorite too! And I happened to have a couple little dog figures which I gave to her. She gave up a quick shy smile, and away she went with her Grandma.

Well, here they come, back in today.... I just happened to be there for a bit today, when they stopped in to deliver me the card that Riley had made... just for me... all by herself.
It's like it was meant to be, and all those stickers... 🌞 because she did send some sunshine to me. Straight to my heart.

💛 A lesson from the Universe in kindness...

Through the eyes of a child. It doesn't get much better.
They say that people don't remember things you say to them, but they do in fact remember how you made them feel. Its true.💛

As much as I appreciate the recycled plant and pots donations... I can no longer accept them for 2024.

Please do not drop off bushes, perennials, pots/ trays in the parking lot or anywhere else on the property.
I am not able to take care of these things right now... I'm not at the store every day and they are blowing all over the neighborhood. It's making more work for me when I do come in.

I don't mean to sound even remotely ungrateful, it's just something I can't keep after right now.
If you need to speak to me, my number is posted on the sign. Feel free to call me.

We're having one more VOLUNTEER DAY at Sunshines on Sept 22, 2024 at 10 am.

Please join us and help me to get things buttoned up for the season. I could really use some extra hands this year.
We'll be moving plants to winter storage down below, bringing up some totes for Christmas and a lil bit of outside cleaning & carpentry work.....
I'd really appreciate your help, and you'll be rewarded with a nice lunch! I'd like to make a fun day out of this for everyone!

Closing up early this year wasn't any easy decision for me. I like to fight it out, always be moving towards a goal, and keep plugging along with work. Its just what I do..it keeps my mind busy and my body tired.

But after some deep thought and sincere chats with people who really care about me, I decided to wrap things up at the garden center early this year.
I plan to finish out Sept with mums, the Fall Fest on the 14th and the 2nd annual Plants for a Purpose fundraiser on the 28th...then take the time I need for me. I've been warned by my Dr's of the "new do's & don'ts" of chemo treatments this time around, and it'll be easier on me if I just listen to them. Lol.

I need this time to fight this as***le cancer once again and hopefully beat it for good this time. I can't continue to fight on 2 or 3 fronts as I have been trying to do. I've been battling to keep Sunshines open, work as much as I can to keep things from dropping off, dying or just simply going south.
I'm single, so I run my own household and my other business.... it's a lot for one healthy person, and I just can't do it all right now.

I have realized that I need to concentrate on one battle at a time. So I've decided that I'll step back early this year, not bother with pumpkins or Halloween- (which kills me cuz its my fave) and from this year going forward, Gardy will take over the Christmas sales season of Trees/Wreaths/ Poinsettias

I will do what I need to do to survive this, I need to regroup and I will be back in the spring with a new zest for life, a renewed passion for Sunshine's and a smile on my face. 🌞

Unfortunately, today our upcoming Plants for a Purpose recipient graciously declined help on her yard project that we had scheduled for September 8, 2024. Sadly, she has decided to tackle it herself. ☹️ and btw...she has it almost done.

I think sometimes, when we can't coordinate these projects quickly enough, people have too much time to think about things.... they overthink and become apprehensive. They don't want to be in the spotlight, or have any attention brought to their life. I get it.
Most of the time, these people are struggling with some sort of life crisis, and this recipient was no different.
Honestly, we're not trying to exploit anyone's misery or embarrass anybody. But maybe there is a lesson here, and I need to rethink this whole process over the winter and possibly come with a better way. A way that makes people more comfortable about accepting help.

If there's one thing I've learned while going through my own cancer battle, it's that people WANT to help.
It was really hard for me to accept all the help I was receiving, and I fought it, hard. I felt helpless, useless, and that my entire life was out of my control.
☝️ But then.... someone very smart had a talk with me...(I wish I could remember who! )
Anyways...they told me to "LET PEOPLE HELP YOU."
They explained it to me in a different way, a way I hadn't thought about it before.
She said..."It makes THEM feel good, and useful".
She went on to say that "it wasn't ABOUT HOW I FELT", and that I was actually depriving someone elses soul of an opportunity to work their karma out, and do some good in this world.
That hit me hard, cuz no truer words have ever been said.

And believe me, I am the last person on earth that wants to deny someone else of their spiritual brownie points!

So stay tuned....
after a long discussion with a very dear friend today, we decided we will still have a volunteer day opportunity, (sometime in October) at Sunshine's Yard Supply since it turns out that I am the one who's back in need of a little extra helping hand.

The Universe works in such strange and beautiful ways sometimes.

I'm really sorry about all the inconsistency in the store hours lately... and believe me, I hate operating like this....but I'm doing the best I can to ride out the rest of this season, instead of giving up, closing early and sitting on my arse worrying about everything.
I do have lots of offers to help💚 so I will be hitting those people up when that time comes.
But for now...

I'm a worker bee, I need to work, it's my medicine, my therapy, my distraction from life's unpleasant side. So I will try to be there as much as humanly possible! I have chemo this coming Thursday and will be feeling pretty icky for the weekend... But that's ok...cuz I am usually closed Labor day weekend anyways!

We plan to be open right thru 🎃 Halloween with all the fall things.....& the Christmas season🎄 with pre cut Trees, hand made Wreaths, Poinsettias and all the seasonal treasures & trinkets you have loved in the past.

Hi y'all! Just to keep you updated and informed....so there's no confusion or misunderstanding.

You may be wondering why Sunshines won't be open for consistent hours in the coming weeks.... and I'm apologizing now. 😑

I am taking a quick little, long planned, vacation to see my lil sis. Upon my return, I'll be restarting new chemo treatments. 😢
I will have a bunch of Dr appointments and b.s. to get through in the coming weeks, so the store hours/days that I will personally be there will be hit & miss until I can get some sort of schedule in place for treatment and see how my energy level goes. If my red truck is there, I'm there! 🛻 but you can still shop!!
I will be offering an 'Honor system' at the store to at least keep things going and have some sort of income.
Please just call me, text me, whatever..however... we will make it work. You can call me with a secure CC payment, Venmo, PayPal or there is even a blue honor box by the man door.

Hopefully in a few weeks things will get back to some sort of new normal, and I'll be back there as much as I can be.

I hate asking for more from you guys, it's really hard for me, but I'd reeeaaaally appreciate the continued support and some more prayers.
