We are thrilled to share the inspiring story of Taylor, one of our exceptional students at WNYDS. Taylor joined our program at the end of a challenging 5th-grade year. She was struggling with reading and hid her distress from her parents. With their support, they chose to homeschool her and her younger brother.
Taylor embraced our program wholeheartedly. This decision opened new doors for her, leading her to discover her passion for baking. At 12 years old, Taylor founded Tay's Cakery. Her successful venture caught the attention of The Buffalo News and Channel 2.
Recently, we celebrated Taylor's graduation. Hearing her and her mother, Laurie, say, "You changed my (her) life," was heartwarming. It was a testament to the impact of proper reading instruction and dedication.
Six years after starting her journey with us, Taylor is now planning a career in event planning. This is a testament to her creativity, resilience, and hard work. We are very proud of her accomplishments and honored to have contributed to her success.
Taylor and her family said she wouldn't be where she is today without the love, support, and specialized reading instruction. Stories like Taylor's remind us why we do what we do. It motivates us to continue making a difference in the lives of students with dyslexia.
Congratulations, Taylor! We can't wait to see all the amazing things you will achieve in the future.

Jason has been wearing his glasses and he loves it.
He can tell a difference in the area of light sensitivity. I see a difference too with his driving and ability to pinpoint details in his environment which he had trouble finding before.
In the same way I did after getting my filters, he is more relaxed and focused.
It makes me smile when we’re shopping or eating together, and he stops to give a second look and he takes his time focusing as though he’s seeing things without quickly moving on. He’s less distracted when making selections or picking small things up.
The other day I watched him filling out a page with a few words.
It seemed easier for him although the shapes of his letters and space between them is not exactly correct yet.
One of my favorite changes is he sounds more fluent when speaking, with less urgency in his voice on average.
It sounds more like it was meant to sound!
We are so thankful that we found a helpful color for each of us!
Thanks so much

Lookin’ good and feeling even better in her Irlen lenses Emily! Thanks for being such an awesome Irlen advocate.
Hi Susan!
I LOVE my Irlen lenses! I have had far fewer migraines, I am much calmer, and for the first time in nearly twenty years, I can sit and read for about 30 minutes at a time and actually remember what I’ve read! I also could not believe how incredible a difference the lenses make in regard to headlights and streetlights at night! I no longer squint and look away from lights while in a car.
Another remarkable thing is how I perceive colors now. They are so much more vivid, and I can see more variation in them. My depth perception is so improved, I rarely run into things while I’m walking about. I am also dizzy far less often and less severely. I just didn’t realize how my brain’s perception of light was making such a profound impact on my life in so many ways. I’m sharing my experience with as many as I can, in the hopes that people will reach out for help for not only themselves, but others, too.
After having worn the lenses for several weeks, I feel like my brain has improved from when I started wearing them, and the lenses do seem to be a bit too dark at times, in dark rooms and at night, so I am not confident to wear them while driving at night. I would like to get a second pair like Camille has for different settings.
Irlen lenses have changed my life dramatically for the better, and I am so very grateful for you and for my new glasses! Thank you. ♥️👓🕶️

People with Irlen Syndrome are especially affected by artificial light sources like fluorescent and LED lights. These types of artificial light sources tend to have dramatic spikes at specific points along the visual spectrum, unlike natural light which makes a smooth curve. Irlen brains don’t like these spikes! They cause more discomfort and difficulty functioning for people with Irlen Syndrome.
