We grow multiple varieties of Plantain at Rahndell Farm. They are often used interchangeably but for us our Broad Leaf Plantain, Plantago Major, is our heavy hitter. This plant grows to massive sizes in areas where our livestock have reinvigorated the soil with nutrients and biodiversity. Our narrow leaf plantain, Plantago lanceolata, will be highlighted in a future article.
Plantain, also known as Plantago major, is a versatile herb that has been used for centuries for its medicinal properties. This humble plant can be found growing in abundance in many regions around the world, including Europe, Asia, and the Americas. In Celtic history, plantain was considered a sacred herb with powerful healing properties.
The Celtic people believed that plantain had the ability to protect against evil spirits and bring good luck. It was commonly used in rituals and ceremonies to ward off negative energy and promote healing. The leaves of the plant were often carried as an amulet or worn as a talisman to provide protection and bring blessings.
In terms of medicinal uses, plantain has been traditionally used to treat a variety of ailments. The leaves of the plant contain a number of beneficial compounds, including tannins, mucilage, and glycosides, that have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and wound healing properties.
One of the most well-known uses of plantain is as a natural remedy for skin conditions such as cuts, scrapes, and insect bites. The leaves can be crushed and applied topically to the affected area to help reduce inflammation and promote healing. Plantain is also effective at relieving itching and swelling caused by allergic reactions.
In addition to its topical uses, plantain can also be taken internally to support overall health. The herb is known for its ability to soothe digestive issues such as indigestion, bloating, and diarrhea. Plantain tea, made by steeping the leaves in hot water, is a popular remedy for stomach complaints.
Plantain is also a natural expectorant, making it useful for treating respiratory conditions such as coughs and bronchitis. The herb can help to loosen mucus and alleviate congestion, making it easier to breathe.
Overall, plantain is a valuable herb with a long history of medicinal use. Whether used topically or internally, this versatile plant has a wide range of healing properties that can benefit both the body and mind. So the next time you come across a patch of plantain growing in the wild, remember its Celtic roots and the powerful healing potential it holds.

Ginger - A Pain Reliever, & Stomach Soother.
When it came to choosing herbs to include in 11:11, our digestive supplement, Ginger was an obvious choice.
Ginger has been used as an herbal remedy for thousands of years. In fact, the first recorded use of Ginger was found in ancient Chinese herbal texts from around 2,000 B.C.E!
Even today, Ginger’s culinary and medicinal uses span many cultures and civilizations all around the world.
Studies have shown that Ginger:

-Can aid digestion. Ginger stimulates the production of saliva, bile, and gastric juices, which help break down food and aid digestion.
-Can enhance nutrient absorption. By improving digestion and reducing inflammation, Ginger can enhance the absorption of nutrients.
-Can help ease gas and bloating: Ginger has carminative properties, meaning it helps to expel gas from the digestive system, and can ease both bloating and flatulence.
-Can help ease nausea and vomiting.
When creating 11:11, Ginger was only one of the 11 plant-based herbs and 11 probiotics that were specifically selected to promote optimal digestive health.

Meet Star and her Human Companion Christian-
“Real Dogs. Real People. Real Ingredients.
A truer statement couldn’t be made when it comes to finding the best supplements for my four legged companions. My eldest in our pack, Star, a nearly 14 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel unfortunately had elevated Kidney and Liver values on her bi-yearly bloodwork check. Looking for a quality immune support to add to her diet, the ingredients in the C-Me formula instantly impressed me. After only 1 short month on the supplement, I have noticed a new “pep in her step”, better regulated urine output, and best of all…the eagerness to eat her meals again(and lick her bowl clean)! I’d highly recommend Sanctuary Therapeutics to any of my dog loving friends!” Christian P., Michigan
Ingredient Highlight - Dandelion, A Pervasive Lawn Pest, or An Unassuming Health-Promoting Bounty?
While many of us have been convinced to view its sunny, yellow flowers as an unwanted w**d, hidden within the often-overlooked dandelion is a treasure trove of earthy goodness.
-In a review of the current research, Dandelion was found to have Gastrointestinal (GI) protective substances which include: taraxasterol, taraxerol, caffeic acid, chicoric acid, chlorogenic acid, luteolin and its glucosides, polysaccharides, inulin, and β-sitosterol.
-The research also found that dandelion exhibits pharmacological effects against GI disorders, mainly including dyspepsia, gastroesophageal reflux disease, gastritis, small intestinal ulcer, ulcerative colitis, liver diseases, gallstones, acute pancreatitis, and GI malignancy. Dandelion also has anti-inflammatory effects throughout the GI tract.

Ingredient Highlight - Black currant, THE FORBIDDEN FRUIT?
For more than a half a century, growing and importing black currants were banned in the USA due to conflict with the timber industry.
The ban lifted in 1966 & the time is here to get to know this amazing SUPERFOOD!
Black Currants (Ribes nigrum) are small round black berries revered as a traditional medicine throughout Europe and Asia. Modern science is fast at work exploring this ancient wisdom and the power these tiny berries have to offer.
Studies have found that Black Currant has the following benefits.
• Black Currants are high in antioxidants including Vitamin C, GLA (Gamma-Linoleic Acid) and potassium
• GLA plays a vital role in the reduction of inflammation throughout the body, including joints
• They contain twice the amount of potassium found in bananas, 4 times the vitamin C in oranges and twice the antioxidants in blueberries.
• Black currants are extremely high in anthocyanins, second only to the Aronia Berry
We source all of our Black Currant from small family owned farms, right here in the United States. We firmly believe in reestablishing this fruit as a part of the American diet and a beneficial crop for US farmers.
We are just minutes away from launching grow, a formula I am so excited about as a large breed breeder. With several other products following. This is just the beginning of our journey. Stay tuned
We are just a couple weeks away from our official launch to the public. We are getting more and more excited everyday. The folks that were part of the soft launch have been overwhelmed with the product quality and effectiveness!
Are our pets the “Canaries in the coal mine” for US Citizens? Why you should consider where your dogs food and supplements come from.
