Mooring the ship in tight spaces!
You know we are always getting involved in helping others, head over to Quilting for Cradle to see our latest adventure. We have a great person who has donated fabric to our church group. We want to send every child that attends Cradle Beach home with a quilt or fleece blanket. How many is that? 800 children with special needs and the underserved. Ask and they will help. Many quilters in the area have stepped up to help. We have kits available. All we are asking for are sewer to make the tops and piece the binding. If you want to complete the quilt that is great too. We have backing and FedEx has delivered many rolls of batting. Checkout all the things we are making with our donations over at Quilting for Cradle!

November is a month to be thankful for so many things. Our family, friends and the opportunity to use our talents to make a difference in other people's lives. Our friend Lisa Laffrado approached the Women of Wayside about making quilts for the children attending Cradle Beach in the summer of 2022. Chasen Dreams Quilting is always on board with lending a hand. Lisa told us 100 quilts and we said no problem. It is actually 100 quilts for each session which translated to 500 quilts. Were we intimidated by this - NO. We will appeal to our quilting community for help. We have some basic patterns to make 40 x 60 quilts. If you want to donate a top, the size is approximate and we ask that you send the binding with it. We have a sew day this Saturday, 11/6 at 10:00 a.m. til 4:00 pm at Wayside Presbyterian Church- Lakeshore Rd and Amsdell Rd. Hambirg. We have donated fabric to make up kits. If you can make it, please let me know so we order enough pizza.
It's Quilt Show Week!!!! Quilts are judged and ready to be hung. I can't wait to see this amazing show. Whether you are near or far, this is a must see. Admission is $5.00 Non-perishable items are also being collected for Feed Hamburg. There is a boutique, vendors, basket raffles, mystery bags and our quilt raffle. We hope to see you there.
A couple more wall hangings I quilted last week.
Foolish Tricks is quilted. Final stitch count is 110,767. Quilt size is 40.5 x 59.
The dogs woke me up early so started quilting early. Bottom borders and blocks are done and moving back to middle to finish up.
This is my accomplishment for day. Tomorrow I will roll the quilt and do the center blocks.
Never stop learning. I just learned how to on point sashing.
Today I am doing another quilt called Foolish Tricks. The border has been set up and is stitching.
The second project I did was the November 2019 Skill Builders Sashing Tablerunner. This focused on doing sashings. I absolutely loved this project. I learned so much and cut wait to experiment on future projects.
I started my Skill Builders Project from July 2020. I have a lot to learn so I started with a small project. Joan Knight and Joyce Lundrigen provide the instructions, pattern, quilting instructions and a video. I have had the opportunity to take classes from both of these teachers. Their video instructions are very detailed and easy to follow.
Chasen Dreams does their quilting on a Statler. One part of owning a longarm is the commitment to learning. A Statler is an amazing investment and learning the intricacies of the program is important. Kathy is taking a few days off and the school bell has rung. I am currently behind on my Skill Builders by Joan Knight and Joyce Lundrigen. I am playing catch up. Stay tuned for my latest projects.
Kathy does get to play once in awhile. Tula Pink Daybreak Quilt.
Been working to get some UFO’s done!
My Covid Tula Pink quilt first picture shows color better. Second picture shows whole quilt.
Working on a quilt using Tula Pink fabric I have collected. Stay tune for updates as I continue to add the borders. The true colors just don’t show up in the picture well . Will try and get it outside for better picture
Took the time out to take a class with Claudia Dinell from Claudia’s Creations!
As we are all quarantined, life has many changes. I returned home from Arizona and have continued my mask and surgical cap making at home. Kathy is holding down the longarming at her house. Here are some pictures of what I have been doing. My brother and family own Chase's Diner in Chandler, Arizona and when they open there dining room again, you might see the diner masks.
I took a trip to celebrate my mom's Heavenly birthday with my siblings. I am currently extending my stay till it is safe to travel. I borrowed a machine and cutting accessories from my sister Becky and using her Bernina 153. My twin sister will be thrilled to know I am using the knee lift and needle up/down on the foot pedal.
There is nothing more precious or heartwarming than giving. The Quilt for the Lord group at Wayside Presbyterian Church spent the last year making quilts for veterans. Chasen Dreams Quilting donated their time to quilt the quilts. Lots of laughter, tears and hugs as the quilts were received by our local female veterans.
One of the big winners at Houston. The background has words written throughout the quilt. As if the quilt wasn't amazing enough by itself.
If you are a hexi person, you have to see this quilt. It was at the Houston show.
This week we will b delivering these 50 quilts to some very special female veterans thanks to the Quilt for the Lord Group at Wayside Presbyterian Church.
Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make memory bags for WNY Perinatal Bereavement. We were busy pinning, sewing, trimming, ironing and tieing the ribbons in bows. Marilyn Abram, Joy Boccolucci, Mary Bender, Lois Gern, Joan Kelly, Mary Jane Key, Kathy McKinney, Kris Passinault, Lesle Persons, Mary Smith, Mary Salasny and Shirley Vandepoll. We have almost 80 completed.
This past weekend Kathy and I traveled to Peterborough, Ontario to attend training on a wholecloth quilt. Joan Knight taught the class. Pictured is Joan Knight on Left and Philippe Skjaveland on right. Kawartha Quilting and Sewing hosted the conference.
We took a week off from quilting to celebrate my sister's birthday in Hamilton, Missouri. We are staying at the Morning Star Inn. Teressa is an awesome host!
