Today, Juneteenth, marks the end of slavery in the U.S., when slaves in Texas were given news of their freedom on June 19, 1865. The legacy of Juneteenth shows the value of deep hope and urgent organizing in uncertain times.

Join us on this symbolic date to celebrate and honor the Black community across the United States and to also make lasting change in our society.

One way we chose to honor Juneteenth and the BLM movement was by inviting our friend to design a mural highlighting his poetry on the exterior wall of Paris Parker Prytania in New Orleans.

As a salon fueled and energized by artistry, share the names of your favorite local Black artists in the comments below to amplify Black voices this Juneteenth.
