We couldn’t be more proud of this amazing group of young people and how they felt about their performance and experience at the Louisiana FLL State Championship yesterday. They have a true love for learning, trying out different designs and for working and growing with each other as a team. It has been an honor to watch them grow as a team over the past season.
At the end of the day, the team was honored to be named the Champion’s Award winner and won the top Robot Performance Award. Wishing the very best to all the teams we had the chance to meet and work with today!
Geared up and ready to start a fun filled day of judging and robots at LSU’s FLL Challenge Regional Qualifier.
There was lots of talk about robots and game strategy in the shop this evening as our three FLL Challenge teams continued to refine their initial robot designs and research possible attachment ideas.
The team was able to get a lot of work done today working to redesign their robot for this season. It was great seeing different members take on leadership roles and work to incorporate the ideas of our new members.
In honor of Monday’s historic launch of Artemis 1, the team chose to help participants at this year’s SLU STEM Festival make and launch straw rockets. We had an awesome time helping students experiment with different builds.
While the Bayou Builders were busy researching different forms of energy this afternoon, Torbotics members focused on helping our two new community FLL Challenge teams build their first basic robots. Some members of these teams will use these bots tomorrow during our FLL Jump Start to learn more about programming. We greatly appreciate the assistance of our new volunteer coaches for taking the leap and trusting in us in order to provide more youth this opportunity. Hammond High Magnet School
First joint meeting of all three of our FLL Challenge community teams! It’s time to get .
While our coaches met to start confirming plans for starting two new community teams, the Bayou Builders charged forward assembling this year’s field and starting their annual robot game strategy assessment. More information to come soon regarding the start of our new teams!!!!
We had an awesome turnout this evening from youth throughout or area who are interested in learning more about FIRST LEGO League Challenge and being considered for one of our new community teams. We will host a second interest meeting next Wednesday for those who couldn’t make it today. This is how we ! We are
And just like that the Bayou Builders were able to launch into the SuperPowered season today! Be on the look out for information posted soon about our “new member recruitment meeting” next Wednesday, August 10!

Help us spread the word!!! HYPE Robotics of Louisiana is hosting a Laser Tag fundraiser for area robotics teams at Safari Quest on Friday, August 5th! $20 per player gets you unlimited laser tag between the hours of 4pm - 9pm with proceeds going to support our teams! We’re looking forward to an awesome night celebrating the end of summer.
The team started a fun project this afternoon to commemorate our past seasons. Our newer members had a lot of fun making comparisons between the mats, especially between the seemingly plain World Class mat and the ultra colorful one for RePlay.
Today marked the end of the FLL Western Edge International Tournament. While they didn’t get the score they hoped for during the On-the-Spot Challenge, they did finish the day with the knowledge that if all had run as it had in every practice leading up to their scored run, they would have beat the top score by one point (41)! They placed 14th overall in robot performance with 465p points; just 20 off from their top score and their highest score in official competition this season. It was a great weekend all around. The team is pictured wearing the crowns the event asked for everyone to make for the occasion. Now it’s time to begin off-season plans with 5 returning members and 4 brand-new alumni. We will announce more thru the summer about upcoming recruitment meetings.
Just received some sweet energy boosts from two alumni mentors as the team launches straight into the FLL On the Spot Challenge for the FLL Western Edge Invitational.
Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening! We just signed on for day 2 of competition at the FLL Western Invitational. For some on the call it is already 10:32pm! Such dedication and awesome energy! Such an awesome experience for our crew to meet these teams from all over the world from the comfort of the HHMS engineering computer lab!
This evening marked the first day of the FLL Western Invitational hosted remotely out of California. The team had a lot of fun watching the Opening Ceremonies and cheering for another fellow Louisiana team also competing, the Dragoneers from St. Dominic in New Orleans. We had the chance to meet teams from the Philippines (where it is already tomorrow), Cañada, Washington, Maine, and Texas while waiting for our breakout room to open to rub our first match. It was a good first day with a solid round one score. The team had a blast playing concentration to shake off the nerves and have some fun while waiting out the storm prior to our turn at the robot table. We were very fortunate the power stayed on and our video connection was crystal clear! We can’t wait to see what’s in store as the team heads into day 2 tomorrow.
We are truly proud of this crew! Here it is the end of the school year and they have been putting in strong hours practicing for this weekend’s Western Invitational. It will be a full weekend for this crew and we wish them the best, as always!
Amid state testing all around us, this crew dug deep today to get all of their judging videos completed for the Western Invitational in just one afternoon. We are truly proud of them and all they continue to work toward this season. With 4 transitioning soon to high school, it is a bittersweet time for the team. Please help us in wishing them the very best next week.
It was awesome to have the team back in action in the shop today. With several of our senior members already in the process of transitioning to FRC 2080, we still have one last competition to wrap up the Cargo Connect season next month on May 14.
The team closed out Engineering Week strong with a demo at Torbotics 2022 Robot Reveal celebrating 16 years of promoting STEM opportunities in Tangipahoa Parish.
This crew did an awesome job representing their team during an all day demo at the LA STEM Summit in Baton Rouge today. It was an honor to have the chance to support them and to watch them diligently work to answer questions and represent FLL Challenge and Explore. Hammond Eastside Magnet School
The team used today’s meeting to help put together this year’s Cargo Connect FLL Explore Inspiration Models to use in an upcoming demo.
While members of our 3rd and 4th launch groups worked to tweak their programming and attachment designs, the rest of the team had a blast today getting to play a series of Core Values themed Blookets put together by one of our first-year members. They are truly appreciative to have the chance to extend their season this year.
We are super excited for this crew who were chosen to continue their season to compete internationally this May. We also very much appreciated their help today in testing a new configuration of Torbotics’ shooting system for this season.
We are extremely proud of this amazing, dedicated group of young people. They set high goals for themselves and persevered amid a considerable amount of challenges. On Saturday the team competed in the FLL Louisiana State Championship. This afternoon they learned that they were named 1st runner up for the Core Values Award and received 1st place for Robot Performance. They truly value that everyone on their team participates in building, programming and running their robot. While people in the past have pointed out to them that doing such can lead to lower robot game scores, they have remained committed to making sure everyone is a part of the robot game experience. We couldn’t be more proud!
It’s always a unique experience to participate in remote competitions! Our level of respect and admiration for this crew remains unparalleled watching them navigate their preparations and interviews today. Looking forward to getting to watch the awards ceremony with them on Monday at 4pm.
We are super proud of this crew along with all the rest of Louisiana’s FLL teams preparing to compete in our remote State Tournament tomorrow. They have learned a lot this year and have definitely grown in the process!
