Tooth erosion occurs when the surface of your teeth is gradually worn away due to exposure to acids. These acids can come from what you eat or drink, or even from stomach acid. Here’s how it impacts your teeth:

1. Enamel Damage: Foods and beverages high in acids can wear away the protective enamel on your teeth. This process is known as tooth erosion. As a result, your teeth may appear discolored, and the enamel becomes thinner.

2. Increased Risk: Tooth erosion opens the door for bacteria, which can lead to cavities or infections. You may experience pain, sensitivity, or notice changes in fillings.

3. Preventive Measures:

- Wait at least an hour after consuming acidic foods before brushing your teeth to allow saliva to naturally wash away acids.
- Limit or avoid acidic beverages like soft drinks. If you do indulge, use a straw.
- Rinse your mouth with water or drink milk after acidic meals.
- Dairy and calcium-rich foods can help neutralize acids.

Remember, protecting your teeth from erosion involves mindful choices about what you eat and drink!
