Another non related motorcycle post. I’ve done polishing and metal refinishing for a few years now. This was the first time I was asked to refinish a set of lamps. These lamps were in a fire and were in very bad shape. Full day of cleaning, polishing and buffing brought them back to life.
Fun job today!
See photos of before and after on these vintage brass lamps.
In non bike related news. Latest project, 1978 G20. My fiance and I have been looking for a van since I sold mine over a year ago. We found this particular van 7 months ago and fell in love with it. Truly a time capsule. Fella did the work himself, and would drive to Florida in this rig to go fishing and have a place to sleep.
Van has a lot of s**g carpet, a sink, fridge, storage, a bed etc.
I was finally able to make the deal happen. So I drove to New Jersey last week. Had to remove a fence and drag this survivor boogie van from its grave where it was parked when the owner passed away 5+ years ago.
She’s rough, but she’s got style. If ya see me hooping around town, honk and wave! Of course I couldn’t leave it alone. Got it running the first day I got it home. Gave it a flat black treatment with some flames. Next will be wheels, and time to drive and camp.
This 1985 FX put up a good fight. See comments for videos of the issue.
Customer states the bike was having shifting issues due to a worn out aftermarket shifter assembly that was not good quality at all.
Ended up removing that assembly and installing a factory style steel mount that retains the kickstand and voltage regulator location.
Modified the foot peg and shifter to accept the previous pegs that were on the bike so it matched.
Modified a factory Harley shift arm for the new linkage to make sure it shifts smooth with no linkage binding.
Few more things to do and she’s back on the road.
Worked in Cleveland this past weekend with my insanely talented homie Peter at Quikcolor Cycle Finish. Helped me learn a lot about custom painting and the process.
Of course we had to eat pizza/ride choppers/ and drive lowrider’s too.
Did a quick 6 hour revamp on my 55 panhead on Saturday. Couldn’t have done it without my friend Kyle.
Some progress on the sportster chopper today.
Went with a matte black base with gloss black flames.
Few more things to knock off the list before riding.
Leaving for Michigan for the Apocalypse run 17.
A lot of people offer items to be raffled off for a good cause.
This is my donation.
All proceeds will go to “Gilda's Club Grand Rapids” provides free emotional healthcare to children, adults, families, and friends on any kind of cancer journey or those grieving the death of someone in their life due to any cause.
Feels great to be back in the shop. All moved into the new place with my fiance’. Finally back in the shop and plucking away at this sportster chopper project.
First real “build” I will be putting out of my shop.
Bike has a lot of hours into it/ custom parts/ with a lot of new parts. Brakes/tires/ gas tank/ etc.
Can’t wait to get some cool paint on this one. Put some miles on it and send it down the road for someone to enjoy at a good price.
Off to Michigan this weekend, will be returning first weekend of August.
Thank you all for the continued support.
Quick 100 mile ride today on the 55’. Shops been closed due to moving out of my house and into a new spot.
Heading to Michigan in 2 weeks. Then will be back to regular programming/ painting/ parts/ bikes for sale.
Thanks everyone.
Current job. Bike has been sitting for 2 years. Gave the bike a quick bath.
Pulled the plugs, checked fluid levels, cleaned battery terminals and installed a new battery. Got the bike to spin over nicely. Verified spark, fresh fuel and the bike fired up and idled.
Further diagnosis the bike was not charging.
Found one of the culprits, see photos. Destroyed rotor.
Parts ordered, going to button it up and back to the customer soon.
